Tether (rappel rope) keeps dropping during one sticking

Using an EWO UP with a 3 step aider. All is well until I climb up on the bottom step of the stick. My rappel rope/tether falls and it requires me to shimmy it back up.

Is this just the way it is one sticking? Or will the tether locker help?

Absolutely use a tether lock of some sort. Ohm, clothespin, paper clamp, Prussics, bungee, etc.

Go to Innovating the Outdoors and get a Flexi Ohm tether lock

^^^ Very heavy!
Of course it will try to pull your rope down...

You need to experiment with things to keep it 'afloat'.

Is there a better link to use ?

There's smaller and lighter ones.
Out of all my rappel ropes and tethers I only have 1 with an 8mm quick-link.
It was my first rappel rope for saddle hunting and I keep tinkering with stuff to make things lighter, faster, easier and better...

Ohm tether locker for sure. I use the Kong oval link paired with the gen 1 ohm locker, dont have issues. the good thing about the ohm is if you get in the habit of clipping your pull down to the amsteel its attached to, you dont have to worry about if you forget to pull it off of your tether/rapel rope. it'll pop right off. Stags in the Wild has several good videos to reference on youtube.

Awesome. If you wouldn't mind sharing the link you're using? I'll check it out.
