Tree Spur / Gaff Climbing Videos

Sounds like a good deal. I definitely maybe might be probably interested. Wife is still less than impressed with the Tika purchase.

I'll be watching for that thread.
You have time to ponder. Release isn't expected until June.

I might even try this - not that I would ever consider using these where prohibited (political correct statement????)

However, do NOT let this distract you gents form completing the SH Platform FIRST - or some of us may start hunting fellow Saddle hunters ;)

Whoa, wait a minute DaveT1963. Better be clear on exactly what the official SH platform is, and possible consequences of suggested infraction.

Rumor has it that several SH gents are developing a platform - I say rumor because they have yet to deliver. I am just pointing out the fact that a few of us are seriously waiting in line and won't take it kindly if other things preempt its release - all said in fun ;)

We are soooooo close. If everything goes well, we will be pouring prototype pieces for testing in the next week or two.

Talked to the owner yesterday. He's still prototyping. But if we can get an order of 25, they'll be in the $400 range. $600 retail. Unfortunately it's a waiting game now.

I'm still talking with him. I might be able to get the quantity reduced. We have a couple months anyway.

I'm in for a set. Just started saddle hunting last season and love it. Not only is it effective buts fun as heck. 'm TRT(opes specialist) for the Fort Worth Fire Department so this is second nature. You fellas give a lot of great info. I really appreciate it.

Nice! Almost half way to our goal!

Yeah for all intensive purposes I am in for $400.00 or less. I have been looking at Buckingham’s. I might as well spend another $160.00 to get something I will use. I just dropped $150.00 + on the tree squeeze might as well round out the system.

Will they come with pole or tree gaffs or will we have the option?

Both options in steel. And rumored pole and tree in titanium as well. They originally only had pole in titanium

Does pine bark get stuck/impaled in the spikes?

Will pole spikes work on big pines?

The big long leaf pines usually have fairly thick bark

If tree spikes are recommended, are they easy to swap out while at the tree?

I have no experience with spurs but getting to 40ft on a big pine with 3lbs of spurs sounds good to me.

Just use tree spikes for everything. That's what I do. You can definitely climb pines with spurs. Just take your time and pay attention. The problem with climbing pines is the freaking pitch gets on everything.
