I didn't read through the whole thread so I might have missed it. What length and diameter are the bolts your using?

I need a new pack for this method. What other packs/pouches are you all using for both the tree bolts and rope gear. I can fit everything I need for a hunt into my coat pockets except my tether, sitdrag, and bolts. The sling style packs look interesting as you can pull it around in front of yourself for easy access to gear you need while climbing. https://www.amazon.com/G4Free-Tacti...pID=51dqPM1eG7L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
Just got this in today. I think it'll serve me well.

I think @redsquirrel uses one like that.. I may have to try one of those!Red rock outdoors has some nice sling bags. I did some slight modifications to mine to make it work better for me. I wear mine in the stand the whole time while I’m hunting. Don’t even carry a backpack.
Looks similar to one that I'm trying out.I think @redsquirrel uses one like that.. I may have to try one of those!
Ezkut bits are designed for 2 5/8" depth. On a 6" bolt that leaves 3 1/2" of protruding bolt. The math looks off but a 6" grade 8 bolt is actually 6 1/8"I just picked up some bolts and am going to dip them tonight. Before I do, what’s everyone’s preference on depth into the tree? I see some saying 3 5/8. ANyone run anything different? What’s the ez kut depth? Thanks in advance!

I have dipped bolts and also used undercoating in a spray can. The undercoating spray seems tougher. Just be sure to "bottom out" each bolt when inserting into tree. Only issue I ever had was using bolts in soft wood, like pine. They will tear the hole opening and caution is in order. In 30+ years of bolt use I've never had an issue with grade 8 bolts.
The woodpecker bit is also slightly smaller diameter and doesn't cut quite as deep. It also is quicker drilling than the ezkut, but the ezkut seems to cut cleaner. The woodpecker drill system recommend cutting a half in of threads off the bolt if I remember correctly. However I don't personally do this.

Some folks have talked about good prices on Amazon. I've always bought mine at Lowe's or a local hardware store (3/8x6") The Ezkut & one made by Treehopper are the only current production cordless bits I'm aware of for bolt drilling. You can buy a 25/64" bit similar to one in pict. and place the stop for the appropriate depth.Which bit is available now...... woodpecker or ezycut?
Can you get a bit at hardware store with s stop to serve the same purpose?
Also...... best source for grade 8 bolts?
I use the stubby auger bit set found locally for me at menards or harbor freight! Works great! https://www.menards.com/main/tools-...6-c-10079.htm?tid=-3225990264158567311&ipos=1View attachment 3310
