Trick for One-Sticking

I climbed this way for a full season with the 20" muddy pro with a five step black diamond aider. Worked very well unless there were a lot of limbs.

Solution for alot of limbs is full set of sticks?

Full set is definitely easier on a tree with a lot of limbs. Just have to decide if you want to carry that weight or take more time to climb.

Still concerned about this knot. The only webbing specific knot I can find through net searching is the water knot, but it seems like a webbing version of the fishermans, which doesn't apply here
Should I be using a figure 8 on a bight with webbing or is that just for rope? A single hit on random forum post stated a fig 8 didn't dress proper and overhand was better for webbing. Anybody with knowledge able to confirm?
I think this is what you are looking for:

My system consists of a short Muddy stick and a 5 step aider/etrier attached and a length of Velocity rope and I ascend and descend using a Tango Cinch Once I leave the ground I am connected to the tree and can rappell out at any given time ((bees etc) I am using a RCH and thanks to you guys am incorporating the Sitdrag. I was using a system that I used a New Tribe basic saddle with Tengu leg straps and a hard seat fashioned after a Guido Web. The ascending/descending works very nicely and at close close to 60 I don't play around with safety - I don't heal as fast as I used to. I use the climbing line as my attachment
to my saddle and cinch another tree strap for the seat or Sitdrag

You'r absolutely right on about not healing as fast as we used to.....

My father always said , " Age and wisdom will always win over youth and treachery.."

I understand now....;)

Are you climbing with the one stick system and unloading the stick with your feet or walking up and down using the Tango Cinch. How much rope are you carrying and how does the weight compare to simply carrying a few more stick. Curious.
I am just about 60 too and cannot afford a fall and I am always looking to be lighter faster and safer. This is an interesting thread

I climb up the aider /step and reach my climbing line as high as I can and then I rap down loosen the stick reposition climb and repeat. I don't climb that high maybe 18' but can get up there in 3 climb/rap maneuvers. I really like not having to find steps on the way down in the dark. I only carry 20-25' of Velocity and it is lighter than additional sticks but haven't weighed my latest system. The Trango I use to tend slack ascending and positioning as well as a lanyard and then use it he Trango to rap down both going up and final rappell.
