What’s on this deers neck?

Any ideas what is happening with this does neck?



And better yet here’s the same phenomenon on the opposite side of the deers neck / another deer.

That's what I thought too until he said it was two different deer. Maybe a neck shooter who is a poor shot but persistent?

Don’t know that they show like that.

But it’s some sort of parasitic thing I think.

I would think parasite. I believe an arrow there would hit the spine and be immediate death.
