Tuesday night on my walk out of my first sit in one of my spots I came across 7 relatively fresh scrapes all within probably 150 yards. This property holds real nice bucks but I’ve always struggle to get on them in daylight. The tree is about 100 yards away from the closest scrape. The winds for Saturday morning are west so the scrapes will be down wind of that tree but also slightly cross wind. Should I hope that buck funnels down should he check on those scrapes or should I abandon the stand and get in the middle of the scrape line and go 40 yards down wind? The only reason I’m asking is because this is the first time I’ve ever seen sign and instantly said YUP that’s daytime for sure. I’m nervous I’m going to get in a tree and have no shots it’s such thick brush in there. It’s an old cut so the “brush” is all 15-20 feet tall. Also it’s supposed to pour tonight and tomorrow morning so I’d assume if he’s not in lock down he’s going to check those scrapes sometime tomorrow afternoon

Sit on the ground. Use the wet ground to make final adjustment with wind to kill them.

Getting in a tree in thick cover may not always be the best answer.
I was thinking that too. There’s plenty of trees to get into and there’s a bowl in there too I was thinking about getting near that bowl because the wind tends to swirl and see what I get for movement in the morning and then I could always get down if i needed to and adjust. This property is 800+ acres and this is my first year hunting this part of it deer have always been hard to come by in here because they don’t seem to have a home they just roam. I’m using this years lack of acorns to my advantage by assuming they’re bedding over here close to the browse in the new clear cut and the apple orchard that abuts it
