I HATE and I mean HATE, pivoting stand offs. They are a pain in the ass to stack, both stand offs have to be lined up to stack on the stick below them. I have never had a need for a pivoting stand off on a tree. So to me they are pointless! I am lucky enough to have got an early set of the Muddy pro sticks where the standoffs don't pivot. I hate the new ones, with the pivoting cleats. So, I am looking to go with a DIY stick ~26 inch step spacing, muddy cam cleat rope system and non pivoting stand offs.

A little over $200 isn't bad considering they'll be custom built to your specifications. I like it.
 
These Dan Infalt sticks got me thinking. How far apart should I go with my steps? Thoughts? I know they can be longer than the muddys but part of what I love about the muddys is how easily they carry through the woods compared to a 32” stick.

And the double steps and the cam
 
I am looking at 25-26" spacing on my sticks (tread to tread). So the stick will have to be about 1-2" longer than that. I am still having a heck of a time finding a non pivoting stand off. Might just have to buy Dan's stick to yank the hardware off and make my own stick with cleats.

I think 24 inches would be a good space for me. Once I get winter clothes on flexibility is an issue

I think I would have a hard time with 24” step spacing.
Muddys stand offs could easily be locked down.

The six point brackets from XOP won't pivot at all on 1.25" posts, but if you use 1", they could pivot a little bit.

I picked up the Lone Wolf off set bracket, They are nothing like what they show on the website. The biggest issue, is most of them don't stand off the tree very far. So this cause two problems, they are very close to the tree so there is not much room for your feet. Also they don't stack high enough to have enough room to clear the cam cleat on the stick under them.

I’m not a fan of the Lone Wolf tree brackets. I haven’t tried the XOP brackets like Ernie is using on his platforms

@Boudreaux makes a good point about some brackets being to short to stack on top of the cam. You may have to find the actual muddy brackets. Yikes!
 
Here I was thinking I would have these in a few days. Ehh not so much. Might be a month out. Lol. Not everyone is on my time schedule. Lol
