Why not an Eye splice

Too long......
I had it made 8 feet long and after adding a good stopper knot its around 7. Honestly I never use more than 4 feet. I usually stuff the extra into a pocket. I just haven't been able to bring myself to cut it. "Just in case".......

Just an FYI, after speaking with Ernie and the folks at The Arborist, if y'all choose to go this route for bridge set up.... just remember to add an additional 2' section in overall quantity length of your rope that you want your finished bridge length to be...., as the additional 2' is needed for the tight eye finished product.
 
You could also just buy a split tail that will already be spliced if you're not too picky about colors...might save a little coin.
