Has anyone had their wrist fused? Looking for issues related to archery and shooting. Also wondering about any side effects.

I'm not sure what fused is, so I don't think I have that. I do still have 3 suture anchors, I think that's the name, in my left wrist ( righty). Range of motion is clearly limited if I demonstrate but I've never noticed any issue from archery ( compound only so far). It may or may not bother me shooting if I had already irritated it doing something else. It's typically overuse that irritates it, and then just about anything can make me whince but it's manageable, usually.

This injury happened about 20 years ago, while I was 17. I subluxated ( spelling??) Dislocation that went immediately back together. Wrong in my case. One of my carpal bones that should be in the center of my wrist was down by the heel of my thumb. Good times! I got surgery for my 18th bday

I'm happy to talk about it further. I hope you are doing OK and have a speedy recovery!

Just a quick glance at what that fuses. I would think it would reduce torquing the bow if it's your bow hand. I could see it potentially helping your release hand. Once healed up. Im sorry to hear you gotta get it done. For what it's worth I struggle a lot with hand problems as well. Carpol tunnel surgery in both my hands so far. Trying to preserve them the best I can. I find climbing can be harder on them at times more than shooting. Or holding stuff funny for extended time.
But If people can shoot a bow well with no hands. I think you'll manage with a limited motion in one. Just make sure you get healed up first so you don't do any extra damage.
Did you have the surgery yet?

Have not had the surgery yet. I can no longer play guitar, or use hand tools because of the pain. I am now using a left handed mouse.. but really i write right handed. My dominate eye is right. I take a pretty stong pain nsed for back pain and the hand still feels like it is being hit by a hammer.
Lost my grip strength. Some numbness. I hold the bow in my left hand. Right hand is the bad one.
I am going to be in a cast for the next three months.
