Just received mine in the mail. I heard at first it was going to weigh 3.5 lbs, then I saw that it had an advertised weight of 4.5 lbs. heavy but manageable. Looked pretty good so I bought one.

Just weighed it-

5.58 lbs without strap

Over 6 lbs with strap.

Do all companies lie about their weights?

Website now says 5.4lbs. It definitely said 4.5 when I ordered it last week.

That's impressive. Wonder how much lighter it'd be on a regular piece of tube vs that cast I beam crap

Wow! I can see a few ounces, but a few pounds difference that is ridiculous. I was going to buy one,but haven't found any in stock. Not any more. No wonder he could drive a jeep on it. Must be some thick casting.

... just because it's heavier though, doesn't mean it still can't be a good platform for someone... Think of it as a heavy duty saddle platform...? All hang on tree stands aren't the same weight either...?

... I keep flip-flopping through sticks and climbing methods just to find something lighter and more portable but always seem to find myself coming back to a 1-in square tubing stick with double steps...

Actually that was one of the reasons I bought it. The platform is solid, but man it’s like adding another stick in terms of weight compared to other platforms.

I'm sure it will make a good stand for many regardless of weight. I really liked the design features and was willing to try it at a lb. More than my current platform.(4.5lbs).When anyone or any company lies to make a sale they immediately lose credibility with me.
