XOP increased their price

I'm really not at liberty to share, and I would rather wait until the details are ironed out before we show the masses.

10-4 good sir! Thanks again to you guys for doing this and letting the rest of us reap the rewards!

I could probably be talked into selling my xop seat if my buddy doesn’t buy the whole stand from me. Pretty sure it’s the earlier version. Would part with the bottom and post as well. I’m in clean out mode for 2018.

Hey guys,

Matt Kline here from Exodus Trail Cams and now XOP as well. I recently started with XOP managing marketing/sales and helping with product development alongside Cody D'acquisto and the rest of our team. We've been talking saddle hunting and platforms since the day I started and I wanted to give you guys some heads up as to why you saw the price increase. It really comes down to a couple of reasons:

1. The seat casting at $29 was not priced for mass market at all, we had a pretty thin margin on it like most of our replacement components. When we started looking at the numbers, we just couldn't sustain all the influx you guys have brought us over the past 6 months. You've been keeping our warehouse team busy! While we appreciate the business, we had to bring the numbers up to make sense.

2. The biggest concern is that the seat castings are really not designed for the load you guys are putting them under when using them as a foot platform. Cast Aluminum is a strong material, and in most cases you won't ever see a problem, but there is potential for an accident if there is too much leverage applied to the outside edge of the casting. This is obviously a huge concern for us as a company and we'd really like to discourage folks from using our seats for platforms.

With that said, we're in the process of building a specialized solution for you guys. Something streamlined and designed for saddle hunters specifically. I've hunted out of a saddle for two seasons on public land and Cody and I have been talking about it for awhile. After seeing all the orders this past fall XOP has decided it's time to move forward.

Naturally, I can't give out too many details until we're further along in the process, but we're looking to have something out early to late summer.

Just wanted to keep you guys posted,

Thanks so much for the support this past year!

Welcome Matt! Good to hear from you. -Kip

I wonder how long they have been following this forum from the shadows.

I'm sure this forum would come up quite a bit in their google analytics, mainly because of your kit making it so easy for the rest of us to get a quality platform.

...How soon can you get a patent on your post? hahaha. In all seriousness, as awesome as it is that XOP's considering making a commercially available platform, I'm more excited to see what you guys are cooking up.

Cheers

Hey Matt - great to hear someone is thinking bigger. Interesting to hear you are connected to XOP now. Hear you on 9FC - cool story about your buck this year by the way. Looking forward to what you do.
Now we have products coming from Wild Edge, Cranford and XOP - plus what the guys here are trying to cook up. I see G2’s bank account dwindling

I don’t think they watched the forum much before I came on board, but the amount of seat castings going out the door this past fall definitely caught attention. I started looking through the forum to see what you guys liked about using the seat and what you didn’t like.

I think for a platform, our current seat casting is a little too tapered off the tree, not to mention it isn’t built structurally to be a platform.

So we put together a new design that won’t add too much weight. Looking forward to showing it off as we get closer to launch.

I personally think it is a good thing that companies are watching the forums to see what guys do and do not like. I think it only helps them to make better products suited to their customers needs. I personally have not used a platform with my saddle yet as I am new to saddle hunting, but may give want to try one day. Looking forward to seeing what y'all are going to come out with.

Well that sucks. I was going to build a platform this spring. I already got the kit from Erniepower. Not sure I care for XOP's answer. I working in manufacturing and I can understand a increase in cost but not double the cost. Where I work they would never complain about being busy. I will not buy one from them now, it feels wrong. I will wait to see what others have in the works and spend my money there. However I am glad they are interested in our segment of the hunting business. So that is a plus.

I understand the concern of the seat not being used for what it is made for, but if it can handle my full weight as I sit on it, I think it will hold my partial weight when I stand on it. With that said, I will not stand towards the end of it! I always keep my weight as close to the post as possible. Looking forward to seeing what they are cooking up ... as a I wait for my trek to come from exodus! I have been super impressed with Exodus since I pre ordered the first lift. Adding Matt to XOP can only improve the company.

This is awesome, can’t wait to see what they come up with. Thanks for the info Matt!

This was all inevitable. As we the community continue to push the envelope and modding all the commercially available stuff it was only going to send red flags lol!! With all that said i think the guys on here are working on an idea that will be fire!! I would stay tuned because like most ideas that come off of here are hard to beat.
