I know Danner aint the best boots for the backcountry but I just don't have it in the budget for the big-name boots. Trying to find a good pair of boots at no more than $200. Can anyone recommend a pair of Danner boots? And if not, what do you recommend?

I have the 400G insulated Danner Acadias which I like very much. At full boat retail they're above $200 but I got them on sale, I think Danner runs an annual sale. Also have the Tanicus boots which are much lighter and very comfortable, but had to exchange a pair under warranty when the waterproofing failed.

Anybody have experience with danner vitals?

I hunted last year in the 800 gram Vital boots and loved them. Had the pronghorns, but they never seemed to break in, which kis surprising for danners. Back in the day, I could pull a pair of Acadias out of the box and go straight to work with no break in period. Older now, and like the comfort of a more flexible boot for quietness thru the woods. But I can't see any recommendation on here steering you wrong.

I bought a pair of danner loggers to try out for this very thing, they’re super comfortable and already have a broke in feeling I haven’t seen a reason yet I can’t trust them in the back country.

I've been wearing the Danner Vitals everyday since black Friday. Don't know about the back country, but they are comfortable for me.

Another vote for the Solomans. No break in required, and easily the lightest boots I have ever owned. Well under $200 online.

x3 on the Solomon’s. Warranty is really good as well, had a sole begin to separate and had owned less than their two year warranty, sent pics and date of manufacture. They sent a new pair of shoes within a week.

I put my danner pronghorn's through the ringer for several years. Both midwest whitetails and colorado elk. They are no longer waterproof but they are still going strong. I gave well under $200 for them.

Swear by my Danners. Replaced the soles on my quarries and hunt out of pronghorns. Cover lots of miles out west.

I wore Acadias for close to 30 years. Loved them and re-soled every pair I owned at least once before retiring them. I currently utilize the Tanicus waterproof and put a lot of miles on them hiking and hunting as well as wearing them daily. As stated above your feet will sweat in these. I had to return one pair after about six months use as I had stitching on one boot beginning to fail. They were replaced promptly at no cost to me. I am going to order another pair of them without the waterproof lining. They are extremely comfortable. I also wear the pronghorns and have for at least the past fifteen plus years. I generally get between 2 to 4 years out of them before I wear through the goretex. I have no complaints in regard to Danner boots or their customer service.

I bought a pair of vitals before last season. I don't know how many miles I've put on them but it's a lot. Combine that with the very rocky terrain I hunt. They don't show any signs of significant wear and are still waterproof with no leaks.

Hands down the most comfortable hunting boot I've ever owned.

I’ve had two pair of danner and they both leaked like a sieve. Newest pair are 3 months old and already leaking. I have kept them pristine and used kenetreck wax on them. Comfortable but I won’t send anymore money their way. I had LLBean before that and even after the sides split my feet stayed dry. That’s been my experience with them.
