Have you ever NOT shared information?

So, humidity, ticks, and more people/less land. Any other enticements to move there I don't know about?
Snakes, gators, mosquitos, poison ivy, poison oak, horse flies, deer flies, cow killers, wasps, Hornets, hurricanes, cursed Indian burial mounds, meth heads, pot heads, crack heads, cursed battlefields, seasonal flooding, voodoo priestesses...

But the worst is the gosh-dang snowbirds. :)

Oh I did forget, expanding hog populations, exploding predator populations like bears and coyotes with dismal Turkey and quail numbers. This was the first spring Turkey season I never heard a Turkey gobble

These are the typical skeeters we have here in the river bottoms I hunt. They'll sure wreck a good day of huntin if you forget your skeeter dope or thermacellScreenshot_20190601-160825_Twitter.jpg

How does it feel 112 when its 95? Is that some kind of swamp magic? I looked up mine, is 86 right now, feels like 86.

Its qual day for me. Getting paid to go to the range, and someone else buys the ammo. It's a hell of a deal.

Wait, seriously? You never have to deal with humidity or have seen this before? You lucky SOB!

I do think that we have had effect on limited quantities of stuff. Didn't we crash the availability on Primal Steps last year?

Also, I think we were responsible for the Ropeman1 staying around. They had already announced it as discontinued when everyone started buying them at any vender that had them.

Yep, like most of my ideas, the purchase I'm sitting on is not for everyone, and I'm not 100% sure about it myself. Not sure that it's dangerous for most folks, but you never know.

Well, you and I seem to think and hunt a lot alike... so you have me intrigued!

We’ve got the pigs in Texas... in fact, our governor just signed a new law that, starting Sept 1, a license will NO LONGER be needed to hunt pigs.
That’s crazy, and tells you just how bad it’s getting.

@redsquirrel already said it best... not always about hoarding, but about testing before sharing in case it is a bad or dangerous idea or product.

John H.

That's sounds very political, LOL. I denied you this for your own good. Lol.

I am also a yes, because the idea ended up being a flop. Lol.

Which absolutely totally different then your reason.

Vtbow has more hunting crap than anybody I've ever known. I only guessed at the depths of his depravity until I had a phone conversation with him.

I remember once I messaged him about something that I put a bid on on Ebay. He messaged back, "Sorry, I already contacted the seller and worked something out." No joke, the listing was gone.

The man is an episode of Hoarders that I'd definitely watch.

You get me his address and we'll split the gear.

If you're talking about the buckets of empy PBR cans, dont be jealous. I'll admit I have a hard time throwing away anything that could potentially be useful. Having worked professionally in the outdoor industry for a long long time doesnt help. I used to get a lot of free stuff--samples, disco'd items, etc. I literally have a stanley organizer for nuts and bolts that is 2' x 18" full of fastex buckles, molle attachments and webbing buckles/etc. like you would see at a sporting goods store.

As far as the camo goes, manufacturers only changed it to get people to buy more. Cause if mossy oak treestand was still being made, it would work as well as anything else. IF it works, why would you buy anything new? It's a marketing scam.

Not sure there's such a thing as a trad bow hipster :smirk:. But i've never had a ponytail, or completely man-scaped like someone else here might have divulged that information to the entire internet.... And I've been wearing plaid, wool, carharts, and chippewas before they were in style because I actually live in the woods and do chop wood, not cause I just want to look like i do. My clothes smell like 2-cycle, not Ralph Lauren.

You mean an Axe is not a can of body spray? Lol

I don't know enough about Alabama to sell it to ya.

Now on Arkansas let's see, decent bit of land, bunch of people, humidity, ticks, chiggers, giant skeeters, tornadoes, hurricanes, ice storms are all pretty common problems.
In Idaho we have some skeeters, but not bad, and ice, and none of the rest. We do have forest fires though and a little ticking time bomb called yellowstone.

When I find something of use as a saddlehunter or something that could work I definitely like to throw it out there and tell people about it for a few reasons. Those of us who have been hunting this way for years still aren't close to knowing everything and never will and it's reassuring sometimes to validate your idea through other people to make sure your not doing something that's going to end badly for you or someone else. Usually doesn't hurt to have a thread somewhere about it that can help the next guy out. Especially on this site with so many people with different occupations and areas of expertise. As far as discovered products that I have tried before others I enjoy telling people and giving people reviews as accurately as I can to avoid them wasting their money on gear that may not work for them. I know I've wasted tons. Even if it comes across as bashing a company (which I wouldn't do intentionally). Comparisons of gear/companies can be worth a lot. I really see no benefit of keeping ideas/discoveries a secret unless it's something that carries a lot of risk that your comfortable doing yourself that could get others hurt. If I would've discovered carbon bolts on my own and not told anyone I would have been taking a much bigger risk than I thought I was. Thanks to the legendary thread about it with people who knew what they were talking about I decided they weren't the climbing method for me.

You fellas saying yes need to do a little research on successful brainstorming. To summarize: more ideas = better results/products. You never know when your average idea might be the spark someone else needs to formulate a great idea. By not sharing, you are simply holding back the community . How dare you :tearsofjoy:

I get the safety side of it...but if I had a decent idea I'd share it with the qualifier that it has not been fully tested/vetted. Try at your own risk. But I haven't had any ideas posing a safety risk....yet!

Think of it as they already know it’s not safe and will probably cause imminent death. Then if they prove themselves wrong they will share.
