Didn't see a thread yet figured I'd start one. Northern Virginia opened September 7th, but I've been sick with a cold since then so I've been off to a slow start. I've got several on cam tho and with an archery season that runs till March and a 6 deer limit I hope to contribute. Good luck out there ladies and gents!

Excited for the contest and the bragging rights we will have for the next year.. Patiently waiting for the opener here in Ohio on September 28th. I have 3 private farms I’ll be hunting 400,300,&150 acre pieces mostly farm land. I also plan to hunt some public that is close to my house that I scouted last fall that showed some good deer sign and little people sign way back in. I have 45 days off of work from the opener till gun season so hope to be done by then. If all goes well early I’d like to take a trip for a diy public hunt in Kentucky or Indiana.

Have been mobile hunting for the last 5 years first with a climber then hang on but this will be my first season in a saddle. Overall I’m pumped for the weight savings and compactness. For gear I’m running bolts on private as climbing method and ring of steps. If I need a platform for all day sits or want a change up I have my lwhc. That will also be my method for public. Saddle is a kestrel flex 2. Shooting a Mathews Halon 6.

Good luck to everyone and be safe I look forward to all the updates and us stacking points up on the other teams!

That's a whole lotta leave! Good for you. Same boat as you, been using hang ons, first year with a saddle. I hunt mostly cattle farms and got tired of cows busting my set ups. Saddle will give me the mobility I need to get away from the cows.

Opened here yesterday let three groups of pigs go and a doe. I’ll be in Ohio October 27-November 3rd. Between here and there I should be able to put some points up. I’ll be out there every day this week I own my own company so I work early and get off for afternoon hunts most every day during season. Good luck to everyone!

Good luck out there everyone....still waiting for Oct 5th here...

Good luck! Our season opened on Saturday. Wont be able to hit the woods till last weekend in September. I moved this year so I have a new private 80 acres to hunt along with a 230 acre public and 100 acre public that is also new to me. I still have the land that I have been hunting for 10 years which is around 400 acres of private but it is over 45 min away so I will hit that on week days when I get off work since I still work in the town that we moved from. I am excited to get out into the woods. Kids are finally old enough that I an hit it harder then I have been able to that last 4 years.

I hear ya man. a 1 year old and 4 year old here...its tough to get away!

pretty much same boat 4 year old and a 2 year old as of yesterday.
yeah, Im lucky enough to own 16 of my own acres in the mountains backing up to another 50+ I can hunt. LEts me get out for a few hours first thing in the morning, and run out just before dark, with a few all day sits during the season..but its still not ideal. On the flip side, I dont want to miss out on saturday morning pancake breakfasts. Just wish I had some venison sausage to go with them!

Can't wait to start racking up the points with you guys. My season doesn't start until October 1st in Michigan, I kind of feel like the ol engine is revving at the starting line but the light hasn't turned green yet in my lane.
I'll be hunting the 80+ that I live on for short hunts but traveling all over the state in search of public land bucks during my vacation time.

Well had the first goof of the season boys. Had a doe come in and was going to shoot her. She got at about 20yds walking at me stepped like she was going to turn sideways so I drew then she turned and continued to walk at me. I held for all I had about a min and half then let down at this point she is within 15yds. She noticed something wasn’t right. We had a staring contest for around a minute then she jumped twice and stoped right before another shooting lane I had at 35yds. I drew then she walked though it. I typically rest my finger on the metal part of my release till I’m ready to shoot then I move it to the trigger. Well I went to move it to the trigger and realized I had it on the trigger not the metal piece. Bow went off about six feet in-front of the deer. But I got it all on film hopefully that was my goof for the year. Going to another spot tonight to see if this time I can close the deal.

Nice cool morning here in Ohio. The big day is tomorrow. Having my coffee this morning and doe’s are all around my house.. I’m off the next six day’s and although the temperature may be a little warmer than I like I will be out trying to get us some points..

That’s awesome man!! Yea I messed up on getting us points by not carrying my saddle in the woods when I went back the next day to recover the deer! I’ll get another another one for us though.

Well I got us some points...first saddle buck..little guy. Made a bad shot but recovered him....im gonna hold off posting him to see if I get something better. Just had to get one in the saddle....have to say I loved it.
