TEAM 4 Thread 2019

Nice work everybody. I should be able to make my second hunt of the season this weekend. Slow start as far as time to hunt goes. It’s been unseasonably hot this October here. Finally starting to cool off enough.

Shoot straight and be safe!

Went out on some new public land in Wisconsin today. Didn't see anything this morning, but found some good sign on the way out so I have a better game plan for next time. Hoping to get back out next weekend.

I passed on a few does (and the chance to add 5 more points for the team) yesterday. Let 'em walk because the bucks are starting to chase and I was hoping one was following. Had em at 10yds.

Nice work fellas! Stacking em!

We’ll have some great weather down here this weekend, should make for good hunting. Then I’ll be in Missouri for a long weekend the following. I hope between those two I can get some points on the board.

The rut where I hunt is January too- so I’ll have my best days ahead.

I have off this Friday and a cold front coming through after heavy rain all day Thursday...AND the bucks chasing. I'll be in the woods Fri, Sat, and Monday so hopefully I can add some more points. I'd really like to upgrade my spike buck entry!

VA still has the stupid "no Sunday hunting" blue law on public land or I'd be out there Sunday too.

Well if I find him in the morning we'll have five more. I think he was an 8 point but it happened so fast all I can say is he looked like a shooter. I didn't see him till he was 30 yards away walking broadside. I drew back and settled my pin and he walked behind a tree. I had to let down and wait a minute till he started moving again he walked about ten feet and I shot him but forgot to put my lighted nocks in. It looked good I think. He ran about 50 yards and stopped. Then he started walking again last I saw of him. I got down after about thirty minutes it was almost dark. I looked for the arrow but couldn't find it or blood so I just backed out.
Gona be a long night your not allowed to camp here so I'm sleeping in my truck.
Gona rain in the am then coldfront.
83 when I shot him.
I'll sit for a couple hours in the morning then get down and look for him. Pretty thick where he was headed wish me luck.

Well bad news. Found my arrow before daylight no blood just a few white hairs. It didn't smell like gut and not even any meat on the broadhead. So guess I shot low and just gave him a belly shave.

Well today was bitter sweet. Had to go home after 5 days running around the state like a chicken with his head cut off looking for a place to hunt. One place closed one running dogs one Hurricane Michael dropped so much debris you couldn't even get through the tangled mess. Finally settled on a place I hadn't been to in 8 years and shot a really nice buck and lost him with a bad shot.
Well this morning on the last sit I thought I would go look for him one last time.
I love buzzards they are my friend. I went back where I shot him and walked the way he went into some real thick overgrown planted pines and after abojt 30 minutes I looked up and one buzzard in a tree flew then ten trees over 8 or 10 more I knew I had found him. I walked another 20 yards and there was six on him.
Needless to say I'm one happy camper.
But I will have to say I still felt kinda crummy for making a bad shot but I'm sure it won't be the last. I don't have any plans on quitting anytime soon.

WooHoo found my Swamp Donkey
So all that being said upgrade my 9 point to a ten.Still in the .

Good to see all the success boys! I on the other hand let us down when I cleaned both the slick heads I shot Tuesday with no pic! Don't fret though, they'll be more!

Took vacation yesterday b/c we have some good weather rolling through Arkansas right now. Made an adjustment based on hottest sign, and killed this one @ 5:20 PM on his way to a scrape.

Hell ya!!! Nice buck!!

Welp I was getting ready yesterday morning to head out and was all dressed ready to go and then I go to pick up my pack and it felt like someone stabbed me in the back. I had muscle spasms and a sharp pain so I took a minute to sit and let it calm down. Then I decided to give it a go so I loaded the gear up in the truck and it was rather painful. As I was driving to the spot every bounce was killing my back, so I decided to head back home. Just didn't seem wise to keep going. Good news is that it feels 75% better today, but bad news is I have to work all week and this weekend coming up I'll be out of town. So, I'm going to miss the best part of the rut.. I'll get us another 5 points on the board by the end of the season, but to say I'm pissed about missing this part of the season is an understatement.

That sucks man! Glad you’re feeling better, and hope you continue to heal.
