Now when setting up the Tether I found the If I place the Tether around the tree just above my head and count 5 of the black thread sections down from the girth hitch to place my persik My sitting position is great for my leg length from knee to the top step my feet rest on.
I am curious as to how much this effects you getting a weak side shot. I have been told by multiple different sources that the higher the tether the easier to go around the tree more to be able to get these weak sides shots.
I just had mine out in the yard for a bit and wow is this thing comfy. I also have a kestrel and mantis and honestly don’t know if it can get much more comfortable than the jx3.
What is everyone using for movement around the tree? Top of sticks seems to be popular but don’t know if that’ll cut it for 360* shooting.
I'll be using screw in steps and do 4 steps to do 360º. I'll be purchasing 4 squirrel steps soon and have a ring of steps to be faster and smoother at set upsI just had mine out in the yard for a bit and wow is this thing comfy. Hey Neonomad, can you post a pic of your DIY load lifters? Been trying to figure it out and not really sure where to find what I need. Thanks! Also I like the whale tail. I use two Ameristeps set a touch higher than my top double step (no platform). When I’m kicked back the ameristeps with a foot on each side of the tree provide a lot of comfort and good control for slow rotations to new positions.
I’ve also added (1) a thin foam pad on the seat for this cold weather, (2) two fleece bags, (3) diy load lifters (4) molle elastic gear retainers that let my gear ropes spool out as I climb, (5) plastic molle clips to hang two sticks as I climb, and (6) a string and clip to ensure the seat doesn’t swing down when climbing.
