Team 7 2019 thread

My bad season continues. I have only seen small bucks, and many of them, all season. We had only two "shooters" on camera in preseason and my friend and my son got them last week. Both were only 3.5 yr old 15" wide 8 pts. No other deer worth taking, so I am likely not tagging a buck this season for the first time in many years. I have only seen a few mature does on just one of our properties, but we agreed not to shoot any does on it until after this Friday, so I will try to add 10 pts at least before year end, if they stay around. I've actually seen more deer by number this year than normal, just not mature deer. It has been an odd season period. I even watched the same small 8 being trailed and chased by one or two doe fawns on several different mornings, never seen that before either.

Okay boys here is my first submission of the season. Hunting time has been sporadic and slow for the most part. I shot this 8 on Thanksgiving morning. Just to make sure I'm scoring correctly....5 points for the bucks plus 8 score able points = 13

Went shooting for points and meat this morning with my Wraith. Got this small 7, and would have had a doe too, but the neighbors decided to mess me up unknowingly right before I squeezed the trigger. Going back for 5 more pts this evening.

Congrats!

Just checked we’re in 10th place out of 16. We could put up points quickly though. I know I need to replace a doe with a buck

I have not been able to pull my weight this year. My apologies for letting the team down.

Archery season (October), which is when I typically see my deer, went bust with only 2 deer sighted and no harvests.
We're in the final 2 weekend's with muzzleloader season up north here and I'm still trying, but the odds are diminishing rapidly.

Heading back out in a few to a place with well established doe travel patterns as they yard up this time of year. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

It's all good. The doe I was going to shoot this morning was literally the first one I have seen to shoot all season. Usually, I am covered with them like ticks. Not even sure why either, nothing has changed on the property.

Getting out when the bottom drops out of the weather this coming Tuesday. Same here, if it’s brown, it’s down. Using the bow this go round, so could be interesting.

Worst entry ever. Bright moonlit morning, extremely quiet, frosty and brittle. I get 10 yards out of my yard, the first one blows. I go another 70, 3 blow to my right. Another 50 yards, 1 to my right. Another 50 yards, another blows on my left. I finally get into my stand, I'm getting set up and a family farther ahead starts blowing and taking off. I now officially hate moonlit mornings. If I had a brain, I would have gone back to bed.

Sounds like some of my mornings in the woods. Hang in there

Had a doe, fawn, and button buck come out this evening. The fawn had a large hole in its shoulder and was limping bad. So decided to take her. Still not sure what the wound is, but will find out tomorrow when I skin her. I will get some pics tomorrow also and add her to the score card. So 5 more points for the team!

Class move on your part to take the wounded deer. Always hate to see that, but a part of hunting.

I hate shooting a fawn, but I felt bad for her. Haven't shot one in over 15 years. I will take the meat though! Some great eating!

She's posted to the scorecard!
