Just posted similar to this in another thread but has anyone made a platform that has pegs like bolts that you could just slide into pre drilled holes and dispense with all the strap/daisychain/rope mod stuff? Would that even be possible/practical under the laws of physics and the saddle hunter safety police?

If you mean using a treehopper or ezcut drill and drilling a ring of holes to use bolts as a ring of steps then yes it’s possible. If you are talking about building a squarish platform and drilling like two or three holes for it to mount to nobI haven’t seen anyone do it. Three bolts would probably hold a predator size platform just fine but you will need a jig to drill through so your bolts and holes will align properly. Then once the leaves come off I find my platform needs to be higher than what I think it will in spring or summer when I do my presets.

Yes the squareish platform part. Holes close enough together to still be parallel to each other but far enough apart to withstand side pressure. I mean if you are drilling holes for presets anyway why not a couple more for a portable platform? Idk the weight of such a set up may end up making it a moot point, not sure the difference between 2 or 3 bolts and a 7/64 amsteel daisychain or cam strap

It’s been tried before, but just isn’t very practical. Every hole has to be perfectly lined up.

I tried a 2-hole design several years ago, and decided it wasn’t worth the headache. You might could make it work if you built a jig to get the holes perfect.

By the sounds of that I’m guessing it’s just easier to have a platform to pack in & out rather than fighting it. Kinda like getting 3 stepps to perfectly line up as a platform.....

I’ve toyed with the idea of extended wooden steps with a piano hinge, something similar to drawing. I currently use wooden pedals drilled for the bolts. Not sure this would work, but might. The hinge would help it fold nicely also.

I was thinking maybe just the 1 piece with 2 bolts and no hinge. But hinge would make it more packable. If only had had access to metal, or could weld.

@Tr33_n1nj@ I love the idea of something like this for doing presets. I'm already scouting for presets for this season so I will know about where to setup when leaves come out.

Good luck and keep up the great thinking. Necessity is the mother of invention. I love the DIY/Innovative spirit on this forum.

what about a bracket like some of the treestand manufacturers use? could have multiple brackets and just one platform.
