2016 deer contest submission thread

This girl came in at 5pm with her sister, sat there at 20yrds right behind some branches for EVER! But she finally stepped out and I sent a crossbow bolt through her. They both sprinted, leaving the red glow of the lighted knock with a perfect halo of blood mist surrounding it. I waited till dark to get down and came back with my wife after unloading my gear at the car.

After getting back to the bolt we started searching for blood, but she had crashed through some real thick stuff so I circled to where she came out. It took us quite a while to find blood, and it wasnt strong.... But I've had double lungs that started slow before they just dumped so I wasn't too worried. We followed a weak blood trail for about 75 yrds, I was about to call it for the night, trying to figure out which friends to call to help in the morning. Its supposed to snow a good amount tomorrow, so that pushed me on a few yards more. It wasn't strong but it was consistent. Then there she was, behind some brush, she had crashed 150yrds from my tree. The bolt entered a few inches from the spine and left a few inches from the sternum, double lung.

It feels so great, this deer is a couple of firsts for me. First saddle deer. First deer from my own tree location, I have always gotten them on somebody else's land in their blind or tree stand. First public-ish land(military base).
