Elk plans for 2020

Are you applying for general season or limited entry permits? As a resident, we can't apply for both deer and elk limited entry permits in the same season. Must choose just one.

I’m a non res now ( lived there for 7 years ) so I apply for limited and general. I was paying for just points for moose elk deer speed goats and sheep but figured it was the same just to try as to buy points who knows I could be that 1 lucky nonresident to draw. I don’t get my hopes up but a guarantee of 10% non res tag is pretty good to try for.

I’ll be headed to Montana with a buddy during archery season for my first western hunt. Can’t wait and it’s all I think about.

Looks like I am all set for Idaho! Did not draw AZ. Found an outfitter with a slot open for archery season. Can’t wait!

Headed out for at least 2 weeks this September, been shooting bow 3 days week, cardio, lifting light weights, etc. Hope to get wife her first elk.

A buddy and I are going to bow hunting in Colorado this year. I've been out there once rifle hunting for cow elk/mule deer, so it'll be awesome trying to call one in. Hopefully we will draw, we've got a 57% chance, if not we'll be over the counter. I've been pretty lazy since my gym shut down, I need to get back into it, but I am down 20lbs from the last time I went!

I'll be doing my first Elk hunt this year OTC in CO. Plan on learning from mistakes, with the goal of having opportunities. Planning on going again to CO for OTC archery in 2021 and applying lessons learned!

Elk is on my list, but I'm not sure when that'll happen. The trek from GA is pretty difficult considering my family/work life. Not to mention my butt isn't getting any skinnier! LOL
I'll be making the drive from the upstate of SC....maybe my grandkids grandkids wont have to travel as far

OTC in Colorado this year if they let me in. Driving my camper from Wisconsin. This will be my first elk hunt at 49 years young. I have been working out the past 6 months, I hope that I will be ready!

Would love to hear some of your arrow builds for elk? I am about to start building up and am considering going heavy but have not fully bought in yet.

My setup for whitetail has been 100gr rage hypodermic on easton aftermaths (340 spine) but I am moving away from mechanicals and am trying to think about a good overall setup for elk and deer.

Good to hear, cause I should be getting some 5mm FMJs in the mail this week! Planing on shooting the 100gr g5 montecs I have...with my arrow length I think I’ll be around 490
