Thinking of grabbing one for Fathers Day, one guy I hunt with said he likes Spypoint Micro, but they seem to get consistently mediocre reviews.
Let me know if anyone out there has one they like, it would be well within cell service range (Urban Archery program)

I have the spypoint micro and the hme solar battery box. For $150, love it all. I blow through the 100 pics in the free plan each month so I’ll probably pay for a plan during the season, maybe.

100 free pics a month? That seems legit! I’ve been wanting to pic up one or two of these as well and will be following this thread.

I’ve had the spypoint micro and it’s alright. I’d say it’s as good as a $100 cell cam would be. The thumbnails are tough to see but good enough to tell that it’s a buck or doe. Now the images you pull from the card are great. Now, I have the spartan gocam and it’s awesome. Unlimited HD pics and videos $4/month through Verizon unlimited plus an additional $4 to use Spartans “premium” stuff. So $8 total a month. Image quality is amazing and videos are fantastic. I liked it so much that I bought two. Now, you can just have the $4-5 through your carrier and not use the app, but you won’t be able to make setting changes without being at the camera, download HD pics, or get video. It will just send pictures to an email. Or you can just skip all of that mess and get one of their plans.

Yes plus first month is unlimited to get you hooked. Depending on location that 100 can rack up pretty quick. But it’s still a decent camera. Takes better pics than a Walmart Tasco when you pull the card.

I have a micro - the pics sent wirelessly are very mediocre, but you gotta remember the better ones are on the SD card. Definitely not the best resolution camera but mine, I kid you not, ran off one set of batteries from August to January in Michigan. Thousands of pictures over that time frame, sent 2x a day. I'm getting another one for this season. I get the paid plan when the seasons open so I know what's going on every day.

Had 5 link micros last year and all died within 2 weeks. Customer service would not help any either. I have tried most main stream cell cameras and by far Ridgetec is hands down the best. Expensive but the Lookout is a premium product, Trailcampro rated it #1 .The Ridgetec Lookout will send 1080 video to your phone , no other camera on the market will do this. It also has more features and settings than any other camera. The lookout has modem that supports Att and verizon, so your choice. I didnt mind the Link micro for what is was but at 15 bucks a month a piece it was too expensive monthly. Also no Spypoints send any video and the picture quality is pretty mediocre. I have gone through alot of cameras over the last 3 months to narrow down the best cell camera there is. Have had browning, moultrie, spypoint,Stealthcam, and Bushnell. I am not affiliated with Ridgtec in any way i just love their product. For those that have the link micro i hope they work better for you than they did for me.

I too have a spy point micro and its' been super reliable but I only use it to see how often deer are using an area, cuz the thumbnails are just too tough to make out any detail. I also have a few Bigfoot cell cams that offer much better thumbnails. But you do use a little extra data for the high res pics. You can opt for small (75kb) or large (350 kb). Below is the 350kb pics that I opt for so I can make out the details. And this cam is hung about 8 foot up since it's on public or else the image quality wood be even clearer.

Here is the spy point thumb for comparison.

A micro picture upload off my ipad

Here is a video at a quarter of the quality it is capable of. This was sent to my cell phone. Any picture or video it takes can be sent to your phone at the original quality as well. No field checks required

That's slick. How long do the batteries last while sending 1080 video? Can you program to make one data dump per day to save batts (like the spy point can)?

With Bigfoot - I can't seem to locate any information about the data plan costs? it goes to SIM Hero but there is no cost information. Can you provide a link or some info? Thanks

Battery life is a hard one being dependent on quality, uploads how many triggers etc. That being said my batteries are still at 100 after sending approx 100 videos and 300 pics. Trailcampro.com has some good write ups on battery life. One of the best on batteries in the cell cam market thats for sure.Yes you can have it send once per day or any schedule you want. I have mine on instant and i get a notification typically within 20 seconds. Also it has a heartbeat feature where you can schedule it to reach out and talk with the cam at selected intervals. Say 30 mins 2 hrs 4 hrs etc. What this does is lets you know your camera is still functioning as well as getting stats on it say battery life ,signal life etc. Also with the heartbeat feature it will upload an videos or high quality photos you have asked for on the selected intervals. This cell cam has more features than any other cam. Also later this month you can add the camera/s to your unlimited cell plan and its only 8/month for unlimited videos and pics at full quality. I will set my camera to for a full quality image an upload here so you can see the image quality. Any other question fell free to ask.

Yeah I think you have to have a log in to see it for some reason. I use the 39.99 yearly plan and never run out. And I average 5 pics each day on each camera.

I have been following RidgeTec for about a year now and I have been really liking what I have been seeing. I haven't been able to find a bad review yet. With the review from Trailcampro, it really sold me and I ordered two of them yesterday. They are on the little expensive end but I think it will be a great investment. They will be my first Cellcams and its safe to say that i'm excited haha. What would you recommend for the video quality that I should request? Say i'm getting around ten videos a day, instant transmission, how long do you think the batteries will last?

Yeah they aren't cheap but it is a premium product. Haven't found a cell cam get that compares to the lookout . I went and bought 3 and have been more than happy with them. So I usually keep mine on video cause that's where the ridgetec leaves everyone behind. I typically have mine set on standard high for 30 secs and 8x quality . And it is phenomenal. I read here in the near future that the lookout will be able to be added to your Verizon plan for about 8 bucks a month. And when that happens I will be turning up the quality to the max! I have mine on feeders and get anywhere from 10 to 30 videos a day. Best part is that it shows you a picture of the first frame of the video so you decide if you want to pay for the transmission of the full video. I would say your batteries will last many months. I run lithiums and the batteries are still at 100 percent after a month . The battery life is the best their is in a cell cam once you factor in the amount of data it is actually sending . A 30 sec 1080 video is a decent size file. So I don't think you will have to worry about batteries at all. In the future I plan to add a 12v solar setup. On the Ridgetec website they sell a high quality solar setup.
