Danner boots??

I hunted in Pronghorns for years. Thought they were great until I actually used a pair of "real" backcountry/hiking boots. Danner's in general are too flexible and not waterproof. My Asolo Flame GTX are amazing! Just the right stiffness for the very real mountains of Idaho.

There are way too many hunting boots/ brands on the market to decide which one is best. What is bad is there is not a lot of places locally in the tampabay area to try them on before you spend the cash. It takes me about 6 mos before I commit to dropping bucks on hunting boots anymore. I want them to last at least 5 years.

x3 on the Solomon’s. Warranty is really good as well, had a sole begin to separate and had owned less than their two year warranty, sent pics and date of manufacture. They sent a new pair of shoes within a week.

I have two pair and I love them... it’s been my experience though in long term wet situations eventually your feet are going to get damp. The reason I have two pair is the first got me wet, they sent me another pair, and the same happened. Creek crossing etc not a big deal but if it’s raining all day and you’re hiking in it (I was, elk hunts), you might not stay totally dry. You guys have a better experience? Even with this being the case, I still wear them as often as I can for the comfort, ankle support, and light weight.

How do they fit by shoe size. Did you have to buy a size larger / smaller?
Danner boots made me realize I've been buying my shoes too small lol. I had a pair of 12D Vitals that I loved but I could tell they were too small. Just got a pair of 13EE and my God what a difference. Seriously though I used the vitals for two years and loved them enough to buy another pair even after experiencing a little discomfort due to wrong size.

I have the Danner Cabela's Gore-Tex Winter Lite and like them. This is my second pair of Danners. I lost one of the soles on the first pair after many years and wanted another pair but wanted ones that could be re-soled if necessary. I also have the Salomon GTX that I use in summer for hiking and early season. I like both but the Danners more for rough terrain (ankle support, thick soles for ruff rocks and I hope the thick soles will help on the OOAL Platform and Artisian top step platform we will see)

I have the powder horn. I bought them in 400 grain. I liked them so much I bought a second pair in non insulated cause I caught them on sale

I went the Solomon route. Felt better on my feet in the store than danners. I’ve never had a pair of danners so my comments are based solely on initial feel.

I have owned a lot of danner boots for both work and hiking/hunting. In my opinion they aren’t what they used to be. The last pair of work boots made it 7 days before I split both toes open all the way through the cheap leather.

I now wear USA made keen for work and Solomon quests for hunting/hiking. The quests are the real deal! Literally no break in for my feet what so ever. They are very light, fairly cheap, and have never let me down from Wisconsin to the peaks of Idaho. I’ve got 4 hunting seasons from one pair, soon to be 5.

I have worn Danners at work for years but the ones that are most comfy are ones I’ve had for a least 10 years. I just bought a pair of Solomon’s and other than my foot being very wide(no wide in my size) and my pinky toe being irritated for a bit, they are nice right outa the box! They are good to go now after breaking them in to my wide foot.

I will probably just order some 11s then from shoes.com there good about returns its free both ways, thanks though I appreciate the offer!

Hard to beat the danner pronghorn for the money. They can be had for under 200 if you look around. Dont overlook belleville boots. Wore them in the usmc and they were great boots.

Another vote for Pronghorn’s. Very happy with mine. I use them mostly for steeper hill terrain and they have been holding up great.
