Modification to a hang on stand

This coming season will be my first hunting from a saddle. I’ve looked through the threads looking to see if I could find any info on modifying a hang on stand for a platform. I’m fairly budget minded and would rather mod and repurpose my Ameristep hang on before purchasing a dedicated saddle platform.
Has anyone done this? What is the general consensus on it?
Weight savings is not a factor or consideration for me.

If your not looking to save weight I think any climber platform would work a lot of dudes use lone wolf hand climber seats for platforms. I’ve tried it it’s definitely easy and gets you up and down. If your using lock on I’d just cut the seat off or remove it lol but then you will need a way up so idk what your thinking there ?

I have climbing sticks and a new saddle but no platform yet. I spent all my money on an Alaska Bear hunt for September so I have to wait for a bit before wife is willing to listen to me spend more money on hunting stuff. I’m hoping I can get through one season with a platform and the seat removed like you suggested.

Yeah or stand on seat like Rico said!! So funny about the wife lol. Same here but I’m always selling stuff to buy other stuff or just say stuff isn’t as much as it is lmao.

If weight savings isn't a factor, leave the stand whole and fold up the seat until you're sure you like the saddle. You can always fold the seat down and take a break from the saddle if needed. Down the road cut it down if ya like saddle hunting into a smaller platform!

Last year I turned one of the cheap walmart ameristep platforms into a saddle platform and used it all season. This year a buddy of mine is going to use it. I’ll run out and get some pics right quick of it.
