Recon review

How easy to adjust is the webbing bridge?

I was considering picking one up and was curious if it would be difficult to shorten for SRT or rappel and lengthen at hunting height. I was going through posts here on the recon and someone had mentioned the bridge wasn't really adjustable on the fly.

It not instant, but I can adjust in in a minute or less.
You might consider putting a utilibridge on it.

X2 on the utilibridge. I had the webbing bridge on mine and switched it after a few hangs. You can adjust the webbing but not when it's under tension and even then it took some effort. Amsteel bridge was really easy to build and install well worth the 30 minutes of tinkering.

Where is everyone getting the utilibridge from? Is everyone making their own or ordering it somewhere? I’m new to all of this and I would not trust my ability to DIY. This is my first year in a saddle. I got a Phantom a few months ago and I do really like it. I haven’t had any long sit times in it tho. Just want to try some other stuff and see if maybe I’d like it better. Apparently I haven’t spent enough already. Lol. Thanks,
Matt

Anyone else get noise from the straps go through the rubber plates? It makes a creaking noise on my Recon gonna try the wax see if it works.

I guess I look at it differently and would rather research and DIY as much as possible so I know what materials were used and how it was put together. Amsteel is really easy to work with if you're feeling uneasy about DIY. Here's the link for the utilibridge: https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/diy-utilibridge.23753/

I spent all last season in a Recon prototype. It did not have the coating on the plates. They were dead silent and I had zero slippage of the bridge.
All my reviews and recommendations were based on the uncoated plates. I do now have a couple Recons with the coated plates and I hear what you mean.
Wax or bar soap does work to quiet the creak but I'm not sure that I would want to trust that the creak would reoccur at the moment of truth.
I removed the coating. Its easy to trim off with a utility knife. I will give the bare plates a little paint to dull the shine.
I will also touch base with Mark about this.

Are you the one that posted the vid of turning the recon plates over?? I watched it but want to try it and cannot find it now. Thanks, Blacksmith

I returned my Recon to treehopper a few weeks ago for that reason!! But picked up one on here for sale and really like it except for the noises the plates are making may try removing the coating! I'm like you if a deer is close it's gonna hear it.

I wouldn't hesitate for one minute about removing the coating. It took me less than 10 minutes.

Hey buddy! You talked me out of doing this a couple months ago! I was worried the plate was sharp under the plastic. I’m tearing the stuff off ASAP!

[/QUOTE Please let me know if it works for you? I was wondering if it was sharp under it before I cut it.
