Acorns. Are you seeing them in trees yet?

I have been checking a few spots in my area of ND and I have yet to see any. This includes the 5 Bur oak trees in my yard. Wondering if they should be visible in the trees by now? The trees in my yard did not produce last year so I expected a good crop this year. We did have a couple of hard frosts in early spring... Curious about your areas?

Acorns are lookin sparse in west louisiana. I’ve been looking and haven’t seen much, if any. Gonna be a good year to find the few trees that are dropping bc they’re gonna be hot spots.

IMO this is a better situation than having them eveywhere....hard to pinpoint when they all dropping

Maybe I will get lucky with a couple trees. I just need to put more boots on the ground before season opener

Agreed. Last year they were dropping like crazy so I wasn’t able to pin point specific trees they preferred.

Shoot, I found a tree that was dropping and had deer sign under it a month ago. Crazy. Most of them aren't there yet. Tupelo and cypress, then hickory, then various oaks. Right now we're just getting consistent hickory drops.

If you're trying to get in tune with the hard mast cycles, squirrel hunting will dramatically shorten the curve.

Something else to keep in mind is to check different elevations if you live in hills/mountains. The trees bloom differently at different elevations and a lot of time a good hard frost will only kill in the lowlands and spare the mast up high.

I haven't checked any of my spots yet, I wait until September. The white oaks in my yard are bare again. The reds are loaded with next years but aren't looking like they'll fruit this year.

During years when it's extremely dry oaks up on hills will suffer and oaks down by stream will flourish. During very wet years the opposite occurs.

Ontario acorns are happening around here. I have Red's with nuts, only a few dropping now.

What part of GA you hunting and seeing acorns drop?

East of Atlanta. They’re still green but they’re hitting the ground. I’m guessing all the rain we got early in the year means the crop is gonna be huge
