Eberhart Signature Saddle

He said the phantom “was the best single panel seat saddle ever brought to market”

Which saddles are considered single panel?

one ply- like the trophyline ambush, kite, and yarak. Vs. the sadwich construction of like the kestrel, evo and H2, etc.

I actually ran into John at my local sporting goods store yesterday here in Michigan. He was nice enough to chat with me for a few minutes even though he was there for a business meeting, he told me his saddle should be hitting the market in June.

Thanks for passing that along. That's great news for saddle hunters - the variety and selection of commercial saddles just keeps getting better and better.

yup thats the original double loop anderson, thanks! if you look at the pic I posted above youll see johns double version with the trophyline tether permanently attached. Its actually amazing how comfortable the anderson can be!

Do you see much difference compared to the tree hopper sling

The hardware on the treehopper sling is really nice and accommodates an adjustable 1" tubular webbing bridge (not really adjustable on the fly though). It also has linemans loops which the anderson did not. So it gets a leg up for a modern style bridge instead of the permanently attached tether and linemans loops. The TH has removable leg loops, which I took off and molle webbing on the topen belt section. Build quality is much higher than any of the anderson or big bucks I've had (I've had3). Comfort and fit is exactly the same. I really can't tell the difference between it and the anderson I modded last year(or the year before). I did mod the treehopper belt with a cobra buckle as I didn't like the triglide setup (which is the same as the old anderson).

It's a really well executed "modern" anderson. I really can't stress enough how top notch the build quality is. That being said if you have an anderson that's modded with a bridge, linemans and belt of some sort, it will be pretty much the same.

Soooo...it's now June. Has anyone heard anything about Eberhart's sling coming down the pipeline? I assume it has been delayed because of the pandemic.

Not sure if anyone is still tracking this, but John posted a video on his YouTube channel using his new saddle. Here are a few screen grabs. Looks like an updated and beefed up version of what he’s been using for years. Pretty cool!

Wow, those are some giant hardware rings on there....I like the hardware on the treehopper recon much better. Both are ovbiously designed after the anderson. Looks like this one has t-hook leg loops, which I don't see the point of honestly...

i think the leg loops is one of the requirements for this saddle TMA thing they are working on.

Gotcha. Those hardware rings still seem overkill....pretty much just turns it into a non padded arborists saddle, or big wall rock harness...kinda kills the simplicity IMO.

I think the large hardware rings may be a plus if you prefer a larger rope bridge or just don't want to spring for oplux.

The bridge it comes with looks like it may double back on itself to make it adjustable, but sort of looks like it puts a slider near the carabiner. I didn't get a good look at the leg loops, but they look pretty vertical and maybe connect into the same hardware rings.

Yeah that’s probably the same criticism I have with the big rings....... I’d like to check one out but it seems no matter how many saddles I try
I always run back to my sit drag

Yeah, maybe. Honestly i just dont see it. When I was building ropes courses helping certify for the ACCT we had rigging/building harnesses with those exact same loops. They were big, cumbersome, and always getting stuck on stuff. You could tie four+ 11mm rope bridges on there and still have room.

But to each their own. Just seems weird to me coming from his original minimalist sling.

End of August through Tethrd and if you watch the new eberhart outdoors youtube video you will see me in it.
John, great video, I enjoyed watching it, some good reminders and pointers. Looks like you opted out of the leg loops when you're actually using the sling in a tree(unless I missed them somehow)....I agree they are cumbersome and personally believe they're not needed in the anderson style sling...

Also, are the "t/g-hook" leg loops attachment part of the final design? They've always scared me if you are actually going to count on them, and this is a perfect example:

Again, great video and I look forward to more great content from your channel!

I tend to agree about the big rings being a bit cumbersome. I made a Wraptor/Anderson using the big ring last year and added linemans loops and a belt. The loops do add a bit of weight and tend to get caught on things, but no more than large linemans loops. Still one of my most comfortable saddles. I like his leg loops!
