I had a random day off work and no obligations to fulfill so I walked out the door at 4:30. Was up the tree by 5:30.

I think I’m gonna make one of those knee pad rigs out of a foam seat like Greg Staggs made. This ain’t cutting it.

So far I’ve seen a doe this morning, 3 turkeys running at a spike buck and learned that armadillos make a cute squeaking noise. That’s my base layer there rolled up as a knee pad.

A bad day in the woods is better than a good one at work, they say.

I was in an H2 slingshot with a custom rope bridge. Before he made the triad I made my own. So that helped.

I tried kneepads this year and just heat them. Granted, I do have the big army issue brown ones. They’re just so hot so I don’t use them.

Try arcteryx. Not cheap, but super light and comfy. I bought a pair my first year 4 or 5 seasons ago and haven't looked back

I've been using a lone wolf seat pad on the tree with an OCB. Pretty simple and worts good

That's the only thing keeping me from getting knee pads. I just don't think I'd like having to wear them.

I guess it wouldn’t be too bad to run a pair like the ones @Nutterbuster mentioned but then I’d need a backpack. I’ve gotten away with no backpack all year so far, even on this sit. Which, I guess it’s time if I’m doing all day sits! I should’ve had more water and some snacks. I was hurting around 4!

Why would you need a pack for kneepads? I just put them on at the truck or when I leave the house.

I have the arcteryx mentioned by @Nutterbuster and yes wear them in from the truck. It’s not a knaider or knee pad. Use both. When you get to height turn the knaider hook to the outside of your knee and leave it on. Big contractor style knee pads are slightly more comfortable but if you made 12 hours without any you can probably camp all weekend in a bedding area with the arcteryx.

I’ve got an old Allen ground seat that self inflates like a thermarest. And already has a clip and strap system. Plus it’s camo! Might give that one shot before I try the knee pads again.

I have the same seat cushion. It would work with a fleece pouch but it’s a little noisy as is.

I used a 1 1/2" seat cushion all last year and it worked just fine, cut a slice on each side and run a bungee cord through them. I also just bought a knee pad a local hardware store had in there gardening section, its only about 6 " wide which should work but haven't had a chance to use it yet.
