Looking to buy my first "nice" EDC carry knife, been looking on BLADEHQ, man this is another rabbit hole one could go doen.
Open to auto and auto assisted. If knives are anoher passion for you please share some ideas on what to look at. Prefer 3 inch blade range, slimmer build, and on the not heavy side. $100 range give or take.
 
Last 2 months or so I've been carrying around a Civivi Little Fiend, havent had a single complaint about it yet. Civivi is a branch of WE knives. Sharp and clean as the day I got it, even after several uses. I can easily shave with it straight from the box. I'm careful about never using it to pry, so I dont know how long it lasts for someone who really torques their knives.

For the $100 range you could probably get a Damascus

I don't know a lot about knives but, I know that this Kershaw that my brother in law got me for Xmas 15 years ago has been an awesome little knife. It's been abused, run through the washer and dryer more times than I can count, been lost and found repeatedly, and cut things a knife has no business cutting but, it's still going strong.

I have a Bradford G-Necker. It's a neck knife but I put a clip on it and carry it in my pocket. It runs around the $100 mark and the quality is top notch. It is a fixed blade and its my EDC. After carrying a it for over a year now a fix blade is the best EDC Knife I have ever used.

Love my Benchmade Griptilian. The Mini-Griptilian may be right up your alley since you’re looking for about a 3” blade with a slimmer build. Super-grippy, easy to flip open with a quick snap of your wrist, very light, and easy to sharpen if you get the 154CM steel version. And made in the USA.

I had a Kershaw skyline that I really liked. I had a a spyderco delica that I loved. Has a few others before that did the job but was just ok. I then lost my skyline and ended up with a buck spitfire to save a few bucks over a new spyderco. I really like the spitfire. I probably would get the mini next time but so far I like it. But if I were determined to spend $100 it would be the delica all day.
On a side note I got a spyderco H2 salt for kayaking(fresh water). I once lost it and found it in the driveway 2 weeks later. Absolutely no rust at all. The esse izula as mentioned is a sweet fixed blade edc. You can’t go wrong with a decent buck, spyderco, bench made, kershaw, crkt, ontario knives. The quality companies make quality knives.

YouTube once you narrow down to see comparisons side by side. Nutnfancy has done a ton of knife reviews.
 
I would recommend a mini-griptillian, I carried one for years. When I thought I lost it I grabbed a North Fork to replace it, nice knife but I never loved it.

I now carry a ZT0462 with the micarta handle. I got it on clearance for $150, hands down my favorite but it is heavy, not a great slicer and over your budget.
 
I never have pulled the trigger on a really nice knife because while I have carried one every day since I was probably 8, I lose a lot of them. But I got to hold a lot of mid/high tier benchmade, kershaw, spyderco, etc at my last job. This is the one I always came back to and I even kept one in my pocket as a "work knife" for a couple of weeks trying to make myself buy it:

Hits your points pretty much. Slim, right size blade, light, and just always felt good.
 
Any Spyderco. Do not order from the Spyderco company website (or any knife company) directly as there is a huge mark up on MSRP.

I would not get an auto or assisted opening. If you practice and have dexterity, then a Spyderco (or similar well fitted knife with a blade hole or stud) is safer and just as fast if not faster because there is no need for a safety. I can grab my knife, as I'm pulling it out of pocket stick my thumb in the Spydie hole, and flip it open as I bring the knife up. It is also one more thing to break or need maintenance.

Someone mentioned the Paramilitary. There are 2 of those now (the 2 and the 3) that are 3.5 and 3" and are great knives.

For a cheaper one, I'd go Spyderco Delica or Stretch, but they are FRN handles and don't look as nice as they are.

The axis lock on that was very original and still one of the best. Spyderco stole it twice (compression lock and ball bearing lock).
