Ok guys, all in good fun! Help?! First World Problems!!! I’m thinking about a new gun and can’t decide on caliber. It will be twofold, plinking and deer hunting. My problem is I already have a few calibers for deer, so we can eliminate 243, 25-06, 6.5 CM, 260, 270,7-08, 7 mag, 30-06, 308 and 300wm and 45-70.
I don’t want super expensive ammo cost because I will shoot it at the range.

Thoughts and opinions? Ok Go:)

Something that is cheap to shoot and can put down a deer? What about 7.62x39? Pretty much a 30-30 with a spitzer bullet.
That’s possible but it would have to be a bolt gun. Semi’s are not allowed in my gun safe, hahaha

6.5x55 swiss is another, i don't know ammo price or availability because my pops has been reloading it for 5 or so years now. Fast, flat, one of the preferred euro deer caliburs.

What? No semi duck gun? Handgun? To each their own but I disagree.

Possible, but with a 6.5 and 260 Rem, would it be to close to duplication?

I’m an odd duck! Duck gun is the ole 870. And I am not a pistol guy.... crazy eh?
I have semis, but my goose, duck and turkey gun is an old 870 express magnum. Good choice.

You need a varmint rifle! Zero recoil, cheap to shoot, I’m mounting a scope on my new Bergara HMR 22-250 as we speak, I bought this just for plinking and screwing around, my main coyote gun is another 22-250 Rem 700 with a trijicon accupoint. I’m a bolt action rifle looney too!

22-250 is good option, right bullet and placement can take deer too

There just fun little rifles to shoot, and they flat out knock coyotes down, I use a 52 grain berger varmint and it’s super fur friendly, pencils in and detonates, no exits so far.

I am build one myself for a savage. The factory mags nose dive. going to adjust the feed lips and dremel the edge of the mag.
Like the 6.5 grendel people are making specific mags for the legend.

Maybe get a big bore to play around with, I have a 416, in the unlikely event NY stocks elephants in the ADKs I’m ready lol, in all seriousness a 375 is a good big gun, versatile, if moose hunting or who knows what ever pops up your ready, a moose hunt is on my bucket list.

Go big or go home! Great philosophy

How about a lever action.. .357, 44mag? Not sure on availability of the ammo these days. Good deer hunting brush gun. The lever action is fun. Not super hard in the shoulder.

Pistol caliber lever guns are worth considering for sure
