I was slipping along an old logging road looking for tracks and scratching around 230pm, and as i crested a knoll he was blowed up big time. He didn't really spook or putt when he saw me, just eased off. I deployed my jx3 on the ground about 20 yards from where he was strutting, and sat there knowing if he was using that area for a strut zone he might come back naturally since he didn't spook too bad.
I sporadically blind called every 30 minutes or so, with no response. At 500 sharp the over cast broke and the sun came out for the first time all day, and he gobble on his own one ridge over from me. I cutt at him madder than a wet hen, and within the minute he halved the distance on me and gobbled back on my ridge.
I trembled in anticipation as his urgent pace drew nearer, and at 504 he stood in the exact spot i saw him earlier. I tucked my head, drew a bead, and filled him with a load of federal #5s. It was an awesome hunt.
