Ordered a Dryad Drey Yesterday!

For the guys running the full saddle and wondering about the LB attachment, could you buy a battle belt inner LB from DanO and attach it to the belt with the D ring on it? That way you have the LB attachments at the hips and still have the D ring in the middle of the belt.

Maybe contact the owner at Dryad and see if he can add traditional LB loops to the existing belt. If everything is being made in house I think that would/should be an option.

That’s a good idea @MSbowhunter48. Because then you have your LB loops like a normal saddle setup we are used to but still can slide the hammock container bag to the side. Then when done with LB, the loops themselves would be out of the way and you can still daisy chain your LB to one of those loops and leave it. Two carabiner system or girth hitch. Up to the end user there.

Does anyone know the owners name by chance and is his stuff made there in a shop or is it being made elsewhere like Trophy Line or some other companies?

Owners name is Dane, you can contact him on here at @colic. I believe it’s made in shop cause he was willing to send me some scrap material for an idea I had, but don’t hold me to that answer. He can answer all those questions for you.

If you want direct interaction with @colic on dryad stuff please try to keep it on the vendor side….

I’m a slacker we’ve been traveling the last few days, Baltimore to Kansas City is a hike. I really am liking this the more I try it. I grabbed a Battlebelt & LB from @DanO to try with this & then paired it up with my kite with the retro kit & still tinkering but it’s slick!!!!

How are you making your transition from weighted on your kite bridge to the drey bridge?
I was playing around with it the other day on the method and I couldn't figure out a good way to make the transition after I had all ready weighted my bridge on the method. Was thinking I was going to try running a second tether just for the drey then slack my tether on the method and transfer weight into the drey. Still gotta do some playing around and figure out the best way. Guess I would be extra safe running two tethers but I would rather avoid it if I can. I would rather avoid running my tether extra high too.

I ran both on same tether & treat the drey like a backband. I don’t have enough time in it to give great opinion on best practices

Total brain fart I guess I could just use my linesman belt as a secondary tether. Instead of carrying a third rope. Do some more messing around when I get some more time.

The battle belt idea seems like a perfect solution for running the Drey on it's own or with a retrofit kit since there are molle attachments on the back of the belo

This seems like an ideal solution. Let us know how it works out for ya!

Couldn’t you just bring an extra biner and some friction chord and tie a simple Prusik knot onto your tether. Clip one into the bridge of your saddle for climbing up and clip the other into your hammock bridge once at hunting height. Then loosen the one your saddle bridge is connected to and sit most your weight into the hammock.

Very interested in the dryad. Following to hear your reviews and points of view. I have an H2 I’m considering fitting to or using a rock climbing harness from my hang on stand days. I rigged up lineman’s loops to the climbing harness. Might be an easy retro fit.

Yeah I could, but I run my tether pretty low and there isn't much room between my rollinlock and the tree unless I shorten my bridge up a bunch. I will give it a try next time I am out see how it goes.

Yes. Exactly this.
As you get platform setup, LB is still attached, setup tether and have it ready with a prusik on it. Carabiner to the prusik on the tether. Now you are still connected to the LB and the tether. Step onto platform. Check everything for safety. Deploy hammock. Connect hammock bridge to tether. Undo LB. Store LB wherever. Now your hammock is connected and your d ring is connectEd. Two points of contact. So if hammock fails, you have belt and D ring. If belt fails, you have Amsteel hammock bridge. If tether fails, well, that’s up to you to use LB not being used as back up or not. Because it’s not doing anything else. This is how I would do it. Then you don’t need orange Amsteel safety line hanging out of the bag anymore because you don’t need it.

The dryad kit now offers traditional lineman’s belt loops as an order option! Got these pics from Tkohunts Cny on Saddle Up FB Page.

I wonder how comfortable it would be just hanging from that belt and leg loop setup for one sticking…

It’s not any worse than a Swiss Seat. However, Most definitely deploy the hammock. I tried both ways. It’s doable but I wouldn’t recommend it-especially when you have all that comfort and support of the hammock. Once you get to height you need to deploy it anyway-I find it easier at the base of the tree. About to do a video one sticking and SRT as soon as I can.

Talk about addressing a potential issue quickly. That’s pretty awesome. And it looks like the hammock bag can still slide to your side also.

What's with the Habs avatar are you from north of the border brother? Sabers all the way!!! ;)
