LWCG .5

Like Plebe, I bought my .5 knowing the edges would be sharp, I started with some sand paper and said F this after about 5 minutes and broke out the Dremel tool and a couple hours later it was finished on the bench, it is what it is, all said and done I now have the perfect stand for me, as far as the narrow V bracket I am running a second strap through the V itself and around the tree, rock solid, I am doing the same thing with the Ambush, I weigh 235 and with that second strap through the V bracket both the Ambush and .5 are dead nuts rock solid, zero chance of kick out, better safe than sorry, I have zero fear of heights and probably too complacent up in a tree so that second strap in my opinion eliminates that risk of kick out.

I heavily debated between a .5/1.0 and Beast stand.

Ultimately the dimensions of the Beast stand and the finish is what pushed me towards buying the Beast stand.

Like I said I’m glad they worked out the kinks, LWCG definitely fit a niche within the treestand community and are phenomenal innovativers imo. Just wish they’d test products a little more before releasing.. but they aren’t the only ones.

It would be great if there was a standard .5/1 for the current price. And an optional + addition that added extra more expensive steps. (Smoothed edges) extra + side traction grooves for platform use etc etc) for those willing to pay. I'm so into this crap I'd probably pay two grand for an all titanium stand LOL

I bought a 1.0 last season. It hard som sharp edges. I just purchased a .5 not longer for a hybrid setup and the .5 is better than the 1.0 I received last year as far as edges go.

I wish they would have made the V like the Assaults 2. It really would be a perfect stand maybe little heavier but worth it IMO.

Literally did every edge on the backside of my stand to avoid shredding my clothes. Pissed me off pretty royally, but it's done.

I agree wider “v” would be worth the extra ounces and near perfection for hybrid use

I mentioned that to Andre before they released them (because I had already been using an OG 8.5# LW and a sand cast for hybrid use and a wider v was the main thing missing). He indicated that after Gen1 was out, he’d look into it. But I’m sure he’s worried about the weight increase. Definitely be more versatile and stable.

You .5 owners...are you able to walk around the edge/side loading it like you would with a traditional saddle platform?

I wouldn't without a second strap down low, you guys using this as a saddle platform get a head nod from me. I wouldn't wanna deal with getting around the cables while trying to get a shot off. I use it like it was designed to be and it's a great treestand for short hunts

With a second strap there would be no issue. The cables are no more of a hinderance than the beast stand.

The .5 would make a good saddle hybrid. Definitely need two straps though. It’s a solid platform with minimal flex.

I’d have to check all the edges on mine. I know the post where straps go is fine. The top of the platform is sharp which is fine. I’ll have to check the bottom of the platform.
Def would use the second strap just for security at not much weight penalty. I’ve only used it in my yard twice so far but seems good. Also like the ability to sit on a seat traditionally and take shots that way as well. I did the same type thing using a rock climbing harness last season on the 1.0. Works well.

Anyone thinking of grinding down the two outer teeth some? Or is that just gonna lead to problems?

I’m assuming guys don’t want to run a second strap due to weight noise and bulk?
If that’s the case why not just run an amsteel Whoopie sling? (For just the bottom not the top)

I don't think that would help much it needs a bigger V like this View attachment 49343

Right, don't think I'm up to that mod. I'm running two straps and it's fine.

Nevertheless, it strikes me as odd to have the two outer points of the V out of line with the others. It would have to be a very narrow tree for them to bracket the trunk. I guess they are supposed to act as cleats that dig in and anchor the stand, don't know how beneficial that is.

I haven't paid much attention to how the stand contacts trees of different size and hardness, but I see that XOP Vanish only touches at the corners and at least here anyway, the .5 seems to do a bit better.
