Well I found another rabbit hole to go down. Man it’s been rewarding. I started building my own fishing rods. There is nothing cheap about it, but I know I am getting a higher quality rod than most production rods. And the main thing is I get to choose my components and position of them just the way I want them, to fit my style and the exact application I want them for.
The Mutha Rippa name came from my childhood fishing experiences with my dad. It was his DIY cuss word. Lol. You know, like when the trolling motor slams into a stump! Mutha Rippa!
You jerk your bait out of the tree and it flies back at you! Mutha Rippa!
Or pop your line on the biggest bass of the day... Mutha Rippa!
He got a kick out it when I showed him my 1st build.

One is a square bill rod and the other is for a bigger deeper diving crankbait but I was testing it as a top water jerkbait rod. Which will be my next build. Same blank but will have to cut it shorter and shorten the handle length making it perfect. The power and action is right on.

Very nice! I really enjoy custom ice fishing rods. I moved into a new house last year and it turns out my neighbor has been building custom rods for nearly 40 years. Theres definitely an art to it.

One thing I didn't even know existed was custom cork handles. He layers cork on top of one another and shapes them to the perfect grip. Theres all kinds of styles you can use. Such a fun and rewarding hobby.

Those look awesome! How much for my own? Haha

All depends what you want. For instance, you can buy a set of guides from $10 to over $100. Everything can be customized. I can build you a $1000 rod if you want.
The green accent rod cost me $150 and the red accent cost me $180. That’s just cost!

I’ll take 1 $1000 rod please. Is there a place I can input my $900 off promo code?

That’s awesome. I much prefer a high quality cork to other materials. Can this be accomplished with any rod?

As far as I can see, it can. Cork is nice and a thing of beauty, but I rather Winn grips for wet and sweaty working hands.

Thanks for the heads up. To each their own! I suppose that’s why they make different styles.

June was fishing season, why are you still messin with that crap? Great looking rods by the way!!

Went out this morning and caught six early. Too hot to play in the woods, even though I hung a double ladder for the kids this weekend and been cleaning trails. Oh and I just got my latitude classic 2 in. Just really really really waiting on a little cool snap.

I have that same setup (for personal rods)
Made a few elite banks and i really enjoy it but dam i kill myself with these diy things haha from arrows, rods, guns, and of course baits as one of my biggest ...hell i gotta go to work to get a break haha

I started a fb page but I don’t know how to link it. Just look me up (Jason Bagala) and ask to join the Mutha Rippa page. I’ve been posting some repair work and new rod builds. Finding components in stock is really slowing me down.
