How many camp instead of paying for cabin or hotel.

Bought this camper for hunting trips and summer camping with the boss.
With a small Yamaha generator it’s a compact all in one unit. Has a full kitchen with norcold frig, small gas stove. Fan and AC and a electric blanket for really cold weather. Have camped in sub 20’s and didn’t need the electric blanket. 15 gal water storage also. Only weighs 1200 lbs. I pull it with my taco or the boss’s Honda Pilot. Not roughing it by no means but less set up and break down.

This is what the wife and I are looking at for our first travel trailer, for the same reasons as you mention.

We get a lot of use out of it. I live in town also. No room to park a bigger camper or winter storage. Didn’t want to upgrade my truck to a full size.

Fits in a 28x32 garage with lots of room to spare.

I converted a 5x8 inclosed trailer into a camper. Lay down an outdoors rug and a easyup tent and its a nice little setup. Works out good for me and the wife.

Tent camped hunted for SWT for 25 years and goodly amount of camping for deer as well.
I am very well equipped and set up to camp
Having said that if the weather is going to be very poor for camping will not hesitate to motel it. Nothing I've ever done while hunting was more unpleasant than camping day after day in crappy wet weather
Also now over 50 needing two new hips and surgery on both shoulders makes camping simple and lightweight impossible
I eliminated other luxuries like pay TV to help fund my yearly motel costs.
Hunting costs are all reletive.
Bottom line for me and my boys if the weather is going to make for dry camping ( don't give a damn about cold or heat) I/we camp if its going to be wet or cold wet and nasty we will motel it if we can if not we deal with it.
One April turkey trip it was getting down into the low 30's at night never above 50 during the day and rained on an off every day
We were staying at a camp ground with a 40' long 40' wide covered pavilion with a concrete floor with power and lights
We had high winds daily more often than not actually bought some tarps to hang from the poles that held up the pavilion roof in an effort to make temporary walls and keep us out of the wind and dry as the wind was blowing so hard when it rained we would eventually get soaked if not wearing our PVC rain gear unfortunately we didn't buy enough to go all the way around the pavilion and the wind was constantly shifting direction and no matter what whatever was under the pavilion be it our gearvor us was getting soaked
This went on for the first 3 days of a 7-10 day turkey trip
The straw that killed the camel was on evening of day four when we had a fire in the fire pit in the center of the pavilion and we were sitting around it in our PVC rain gear and the wind was blowing the rain hard in on us I saw my friend get his back to close to the fire and watched as his PVC rain gear top began to smoke and melt. Thankfully he wasn't hurt just ruined his Carhart he had under the PVC/RG
Then and there I announced I was going to leave and check into the local $25 a night motel and anyone of the 4 other guys with me were welcome to join me and divide the room cost.
Within 2hrs after I checked in everyone had joined me at my room and we were enjoying the motels semi- enclosed outdoor fire pit and ice cold beers and hotdogs on sticks for $5 each a night for a dry warm place to sleep.
Camp when I can but motel when I have to if I can.

For twenty plus years we put our campers out in the NF after labor day and pulled them home before Valentines day. What I would have spent on a motel for two weeks bought my generator. The full service pay to camp campground is nearby at 30bucks a night. That's where I can slip in and get my evening shower'. I bring my Genny until end of Oct. then I don't need A/C anymore I did this until I got the truck camper about 6 yrs ago. Now where ever I go my camp goes. there is no setup or take down. my forest is over 260 thousand acres. until Gun season I can camp where ever I want closest motel is 18 miles away.

All in one hammock setup. It has room for everything and everything is off the ground. Can’t be the confort. Kammock mantis.

Haven't talked myself into buying a hot tent yet but haven't had a need to...yet. However, pulling a rib a few weeks ago coughing are subtle reminders that true back country days are starting to sunset for me. Getting a small, pop-up camper though does offer opportunities. Admittedly, I spent more time at the Greenwood Fire scouting than anything else.

If its me n my wife we always camp. The old man gets a hotel room if he's comin. We use a 4p cabela's guide series tent. Its a 4 season tent and built like a tank. Not the quickest to set up but dang its not goin anywhere once its up. If its gonna be nice out we got a stingray tree tent too courtesy of @longbowwoman. Super dry...But if its cold that thing is miserable. As far as showers go, well...nope. usually only gone for 4 days tops. Phish and Dead tour have taught us how to live stanky. Just watch the wind!
