Live from the saddle 2021

Gotta love when land owners post the public land 500 yards off their property boundary

Just a word of caution. As a licensed land surveyor who understands where the data comes from on today's hunt apps, if you you are assuming that sign is wrong because Onyx or some other app is telling you the boundary is somewhere else, I would trust that sign more than the mapping software.

Thanks for looking out. There are safety zone signs posted by the WMA 150 yards from the house. The posted signs are way past that on the public. Not to mention they don't have the landowner name, address and date on them which is required in my state.

Shot over a does back at 30 yards last night. Back in the same area now trying to redeem myself. Found some huge tracks from this morning on the way back here but I have to shoot a doe before I can shoot a buck. Set up in the only patch of swamp chestnut oaks on this ridge. The deer are walking right past the regular white oak acorns to get to these jumbos.

Swamp chestnut (left) and standard white oak (right).

Arrowed two does, well actually momma at 27 yds and then the freckled kid standing there confused at 33yds, at 6:45 in fading light. Think momma made it into the marsh, I lost the poor blood trail and searched till 9:30. Hit looked center height but slightly back. Arrow had red blood and no guts or smell. Gonna wake up early and search in daylight. :(The polka dotted one made it 30yds and is in the freezer. :)

dang! well hopefully he'll be back after you've collected a doe! good luck everyone that's going out today/ soon, i'm over here trying to explain why "since you just shot a deer, there's less urgency to go out again right?" is wrong lol.
