Outfitter Spartanforge, is anyone using it and what is your opinion?

HuntStand has historical satellite now as well, although the zoom level on that leaves a bit to be desired.
Just saw that the other day when I was out scouting new public land near me. One of the things I've done is used the Michigan DNR's online mapping tool to identify the foliage types on that land to narrow down areas I want to scout. If Huntstand was able to add that kind of data that would be great. The current foliage map layer they have doesn't really provide anything that I couldn't already identify on the regular satellite images.

Do the Tethrd guys own this? Their entire pro staff are Tethrd guys.
No they do not own it or have anything to do with the app. Some of the hunters sponsored by Tethrd have been beta testing the app because they are good hunters. Good hunters get sponsored by numerous companies. Other good hunters that don’t have social media also have been beta testing the app.

Valid comparison but it's a different ethical conundrum. Cell cams certainly you can opt to use that real-time advantage, but you can also choose not to and just treat it as a picture on your phone you didn't have to wait 6 weeks to pull a card to see. In many cases it's not even practical. I get a big buck picture on my phone, sweet. What am I going to do? Cut out of work, skip daycare pickup, gather my stuff and drive 20 minutes home and 45 minutes to my spot, walk over to my camera and kill that deer that's still definitely not standing in front of my camera? Not likely.

An app with a stated goal to basically eliminate scouting from the equation? Not apples to apples. It's less of a fair chase issue, and more a question of just generally what do we think hunting in it's most elemental form should be all about and how we as humans do our best to destroy all that is good.

Now, do I think it's a pie-in-the-sky, absurd idea that will never work (and possibly even be counter-productive) at scale? Yes, I do. I think this idea is nuts. But his intentions were stated, and I stated that I didn't like his intentions. That's pretty much all.

This app and its machine learning and artificial intelligence do work. It’s open source collection capabilities do work and the more people that run the app, the more accurate it will get. If you use Waze as a traffic/navigation app, then you will know how the algorithm works somewhat.

The app is not for everyone. Tiktok is not for everyone. But it has surpassed YouTube in hours watched per week. Onlyfans isn’t for everyone yet it is valued at over a billion dollars in revenue somehow.

The app is the future and where the industry is going. MySpace used to be the website for social media. It quickly faded out to better and more sophisticated artificial intelligence programs we now know as Facebook. As much as some like or dislike what it is, those that use it will reap the benefits from it. Those that don’t will care less and continue to do what they want.

We could make similar arguments on electric bikes and how they are cheating also, similar to WiFi or cellular game cams. They are here and not going anywhere. SpartanForge is that same technology just in the app format to compete against several others.

A map and compass work. Boots and walking work. But an eBike, a smart phone and an app sure make it easier and faster. If you don’t believe me, find a person who doesn’t select Amazon Prime free two day shipping and chooses 5-7 day shipping just because.

The AI is a just a portion of what the app will do. More than 1 sat image for the areas I hunt to compare leaf on vs leaf off; a logbook tool; owner info; weather prediction and historical info; natural browse for each area plus much more to be added over time..... I encourage you to at least do the trial to check it out, and then decide if it help you.... But I've paid for it to keep the current price! Good luck!
Yeah I thought I was getting all that last year when I paid for it. Seems like if we keep funding them we might eventually get it...

Onx changes date of image when you zoom in and out, which is super annoying. And you are stuck with whatever image date they want to show you. I have resorted to opening Google Earth next to it on laptop and looking at winter images, etc on google and then transferring to Onx.

But for now, there are only the four windows, Weather Forecast, Whitetail Deer Movement, Historical Average and Current Winds, right? When DYI Sportsman is pulling up the map with datapoint entries, that is backend information, he's privy to as a promoter. That information is not part of this app at this point? It seems it has been promised for quite some time, but not delivered?

The app will have all the info I described, plus more features are being added at a steady pace. The four windows that you mentioned are on the website, but the app will have much more than the website. Per Spartan Forge's IG post earlier, the app is being reviewed by Apple and Google stores and is waiting for approval. I know a beta tester and have seen screenshots of the app....

Maybe a dumb question on my part, but did the app actually launch today? I thought it was supposed to today but not finding it on the website or the App Store.

It was supposed to but they said its delayed due to waiting on the app store to approve it.

I mean did they not know about that ahead of time???

I’m not trying to be tough on them but it just seems to keep happening. I really want this app to work like he has been saying for what a year now. He’s been on almost every podcast I listen too and he loves to hype the stuff that’s only available for beta testers. Less marketing/hype and more product would keep me a paying customer. But hey if the goal is just to get $20 from 50% of hunters I’d say well done, hats off.

Screenshot from friend. It’s a very legit app and as mentioned above is awaiting approval from the app stores. They did anticipate the app stores verifying it and planned accordingly. What they didn’t plan for was the actual app stores themselves revamping rules and apps to ensure they aren’t scams or fraudulent apps. Apple and Google are causing the delay due to their new App Store wars.

I got it when DIY put the video out. It's pretty limited right now but excited for the
features that are supposed to be added.

I will say the movement forecast & pattern forecast seem to pair up with what my
camera's show & what I see on foot.

Movement Forecast
Core Area - Movement likely limited to "bedding area" for daylight hours. Movement outside of the core area is unlikely.
Transition Area - Increased likelihood of daytime movement along travel routes between core area and destination for staging or feeding. These routes will typically offer vegetation or natural browse.
Full Range - Increased likelihood of daytime travel throughout the deer's full range. Food, cover, and water will dictate its size and shape. Every deer is different in this regard.

Other then that, there's not really to much to the system yet, beside wind predictions.
Main reason I got it, is because what I'm hearing it will do in the near future. Looking
forward to the app completed. Should be useful help deciding on whether to hunt tight
to beds, transition or feeding areas. I've never 100% understood why some days everything
moves, & some nothing moves at all. I always assumed moon phases or weather. I'm
hopeful the app helps chip away at that. Could be useful.

Either way, I'm going to sit any & every chance I can get, regardless. I do honestly think
the app might help deciding on what type of areas may be more beneficial, so that's a
plus for me.

I’m sorry to hear “he” is caught up in the App Store battle. But I’m wondering why all those features promised can only be available on an app and not in a web browser. OnX, HuntStand, etc all have apps, and the features are available in a web browser. If he’s making the app available free of charge, does he have to pay the app stores?

Sorry, I have no clue how any of that works so I can’t help you with an answer to that question.

So, after the app was supposed to be released on 9/15 and there is no trace of the app in the App Store as of today, I canceled the subscription. I decided I can work with HuntWise, HuntStand, OnX and Best Hunting for this season. All indicate tonight is a good night, Spartanforge is showing movement in the Core Area and Normal Pattern. Maybe it's because the deer here in town and county don't wear gps collars to provide reliable data.

According to the last post, they are still working out the issues with the App Store.

Something to keep in mind, the “movement predictions” by HuntStand & the other apps are based on solunar charts, not any actual data.

Well, that's my point. All other apps predict good movement and activity today, Spartanforge shows zero in my area
