Your arrow is out there somewhere I bet it zipped through there so fast it’s way past the deer.

I agree with you.
Yes. But who aims for shoulders? Most guys don’t shoot a heavy enough arrow that a COC head would penetrate good and surly not pass through with any head.
I don’t feel the need to try to pin a deer down. A good double lung with a sharp blade will put them down within sight most times.
Agreed. He needed to put the arrow up and away anyways though? I don’t think he hit the deer that low and tight to the elbow on purpose.
And I think we all agree 9 out of 10 times that’s a dead deer. We’re just trying to guesstimate on this instance.

I've unfortunately lost enough on shots similar to those to switch up my aiming point. When I'm on the ground I just aim for the double lung and forget the heart they and they won't go far. I feel like a double lung has less margin for error and is a much bigger target.
ranch fairy wants people to tuck it as close to the shoulder as possible.....and a lot of people shooting his adult arrows think they can shoot through any part of a deer at any angle....of course that is not officially prescribed dogma once it is questioned out loud
Who’s ranch fairy?

some dude on youtube with a classic con man personality that knows if you say stuff counter to established wisdom and make people feel smart when agreeing with you and dumb for not that it will get you views and make some people think you are a genius or something....he's largely responsible for people going to heavy arrows that are front heavy with tiny single bevel heads that they then try to thread as close to the shoulder as possible because he's a respiratory therapist and so he knows about these things
That was within an inch of where I held just because it was a longer shot and a lot of times they’ll drop a couple inches.I agree with you.

Best shot placement on a broadside shot is if you imagine a vertical line from the elbow and a horizontal line 1/2 way up/down the body.

In my opinion it’s best due to a larger margin of error. Couple of inches any direction and you’re still hitting vitalswhy is that best?
Yea, I held there thinking the reaction would move the impact up a couple inches but it didn’t react I guessI’d say 3-4 inches too low and 2” too far towards head. When a deer reacts to sound of the bow, your shot ends up higher, not lower.
Question a little off topic.....
In a situation like this.....found after too long and meat spoils, what do u do next? There are laws/rules against "wanton waste" in my state.
Knock on wood, it hasn't happened to me... And honestly never thought about it till now
