Team 3 Thread

Ran up on some does today, but wasn't able to let an arrow fly this time. Big acorn crop this year it seems, because I'm seeing them everywhere, which is going to make finding a food source they're hitting a lot harder. Try again this week.

Came close on shooting a doe tonight I was set up on the end of a finger along side the marsh had I set up in the tree to my left that was blocking my shot would have had a clear 25 yard shot. one doe was walking back-and-forth trying to catch my scent but couldn’t figure it out lol wearing scentlok will try again Wednesday

Made a ground assault this evening for some does with the trad bow. Had one get boogered by a coyote and come running 10 yards from me. Stopped her, rared back at let one fly, arrow looked great in flight till she ducked it.

This is my first year with the trad bow (black bear warf) and I wasn't even mad that I missed her. Just happy to be that close to one and sling an arrow. Drove home with a smile on my face.

Waiting for the right wind now to set on a hot red oak I stuck a camera on last Friday. Have a good 10 and 8 point frequenting it.

Well, I was planning on going up again this weekend, but I think it's going to be too hot & windy to be worth it. Almost 90, and windy all weekend.

Stuck one with the trad this evening in that same red oak I was mentioning in my other reply.

Went out last night and had a great evening. But couldn’t get it done. Met another hunter from Bosnia and had a nice chat. Always nice to meet new people that share same interest and are willing to talk. He was parked at spot I usually parked at but after talking we were both able to hunt an area with out ruining the other hunt.

Sorry guys. I could of added 5 pts tonight but held out hoping the big guy would show up.

Don’t blame you a bit…the “big guy” will be worth more and there’s still 3 months to shoot does Lol.

I went to a doe spot but Only a spotted fawn came out yesterday evening. Momma never stepped out until too dark to shoot.

Heading out in couple hours, gonna stay close to home tonight. Went out Saturday after the big fella but he's gone silent on me, last pic was Sept 28th..... I was hunting the rain and saw nothing from the tree, so I decided to walk around and look for sign. I got within 10 yards of a good 8pt a out he size of the one I killed already in WV, but decided to not take a shot. He moved off with out ever knowing how close he was to death. I ended up seeing 4 does as well but very very little sign compared to years past..

Went out tonight and saw several deer but the only deer in bow range was a 6 pt @ 16 yards and of course they have to have 8 pts to be legal! Just my luck! Lol!

Hmm if it weren't so hard to get a tag out there I might plan a out of state hunt for October........ can you kill a buck or is it doe only?

One buck and up to four does depending on the zone you're in. Some zones are 4 does, a some are two does and I think only one zone is a one antleress limit and one other is no antleress

I would say that if you're gunning for a buck, the last week of muzzleloader can be good but our peak rut is the two weeks between muzzleloader and gun season. The first week of gun season can be pretty good too but you're usually in the lock down phase.

Who's all getting after it this week/weekend? I'll be out for the opener ,for the rest of the state, Friday. Goodluck to everyone.
