Got this out the other day. Hope to finish tillering it when I have time this off season. Will post updates here. Need to make a tillering tree or stick. That will be the next project. It’s very snakey which is why I’ve put it off so long.

Sweet! Sure would like to get my hands on a snakey osage. Looking good, just go slow on that final tillering. What # you going for?

View nice go slow with scraper and make sure you exercise it after each scraping session I love the snakey profiles I just hate tillering them throws me off sometimes I would make a pulley attatchment on the wall and put a gridded big piece of cardboard behind it and that way you can see where your tiller is

Thanks guys. Here are pics from the build.

Where did you get your stave?
A very expensive place not worth mentioning. I found all sorts of cracking in it and knots and paid a huge price. I would not recommend them in the slightest. When I told the shop owner what I was experiencing he told me he’s made good bows from worst staves. He also knew this was my first build and I paid for a premium stave.

Way to take the easy road on your first build LOL

No place to get locally that I can find. Hate ordering from some random person without some reccomendations.
Yep learn from my mistake. I’m planning on trying to go to the Tennessee classic this year and I hear they sell them there. If I’m able to find some locally I may seek permission to harvest some.

This is what I found scouting this past season...... very close to me..... never thought I would find Osage Orange way up here but the "oranges" on the ground last month are what drew me to it. I've walked past this tree and the three or four others near it for two decades and never realized what it was!!! The main tree producing fruit has some extensive grape vine involvement so I'm going to release it soon one of these weekends. I'm also going to plant those oranges somewhere!!!!IMG_7823.JPG

Yep still some meat on that beauty start scraping especially on the fades. Have you thought about steaming it to straighten some twist and put in some back set to get a smoother shooting bow
