What is your favorite small tent wood stove for heating?

Thats right, I forgort you got the cimmaron....

The super tarp didnt show up again yesterday like it was supposed to....silly UPS @huck72412 I dont think will drive up my muddy road for some reason, its not even that bad of a mud season, they're getting soft!

I honestly think the Lite Outdoors xl 18 is going to be too big for any of these shelters. I think they reccomend them for something like tents with a 12' diamerter? I think you will be bumping into the thing regularly getting in and out of the tent, and it will take up a significant amount of the sitting room you're looking for. The CC Divide reccomends the 12" lite outdoor stove. The sawtooth offers the 18" smith with it, which I Think would be comparable to your LO 18". The Sawtooth is a much larger area around the stove

There's also a jimmy tarps alpine basin over on ROK for sale with a stove jack. Very similar to the super tarp, but with entrances on both sides and vertical ends. the foot box is also higher. ITs a pretty sweet deal, I think the guy wants like $250 for it. I"ve been eyeing it as I really like the double entrances, but it cuts down on the versatility I was looking for in the super tarp....

My problem with going with a too large of a shelter is setup space. THe footprint is just as important to me. The super tarp should be able to be tucked in between some trees because of it's narrower width if needed. think 68" width Vs. even the 9' width I need for my Bt-3. I think your cimmaron is probably similar in sizein that it is over 8' in one direction, and over 9' in another....thats a pretty big open area needed. Not sure of where you plan to use it.

Give it a little time, once my super tarp is here, I'll set it up with the LO 12" stove and a chair and shoot some pics for ya, and take some measurements. You may end up wanting a smaller stove. I think the medium sized stoves from all companies are the most versatile. They seem like they would be usable in the widest variety of shelters.....

In that case you decide on a smaller stove, you could probably sell your cimarron with the stove as a set, so you might want to wait a little....
The Jimmy Tarps is $225 now, I’ve had my eye on it as well, that would be great if you could take some of those pictures I would definitely appreciate it, your probably right on my stove but I’m going to hang onto it a bit, I really like that thing. The Supertarp, CC Divide, or Sawtooth will be getting ordered real soon, once I see your pictures I’m pulling the trigger on something. My Cimarron is hitting the classifieds today, once I’m done with something I want it out of here ASAP and on to the next thing, I’m super weird and can’t process lots of stuff at one time lol, plus once it dries up my life is essentially over and I will be working 7 days a week until fall!

Ill write up some more thoughts for you later tonight or tomorrow morning.

First is no way that XL 18" stove is going to work....this is the 12"

Your right that’s not going to work, those pictures are exactly what I was looking for, let me ask you this, when you were sitting at an angle like that how was the head room, the CC Divide is 2’ longer, 15’ total length, I still don’t think that will work either, I think were both after the same shelter, if it exists.

So here are my over all thoughts. For a reference, I'm just under 6'4, 195lbs.

-it was blowing like hell here.. I live in the mountains at just under 2k feet. This shelter did awesome. It was taught, stable, and went up QUICK. I was really impressed. I even had it pitched with the high/upper end into the wind. Really really slick.

-size is nice, overall footprint isn't bad at all plenty of room for gear. Could easily sleep 2 without stove.

-height. There is plenty of height to sit, change clothes etc. For one person

-annex... this is tricky to setup the first time
Will take a bit of practice. It doesn't add as much usable space as you would hope.

- stove setup. This is great for a smaller stove. I think if I was stuck in the shelter for the day or even several hours I'd be pretty cramped. Sitting in the mountain chair is doable, but when sitting off to the side, my head was hitting pretty regularly. Would be annoying with condensation. If I roll back my sleeping bag/etc and sit more towards the center I'm sure it would be fine.

Overall this is a real nice, light shelter that is incredibly versatile. I'm not sure it will fit my needs, might want something just a smidge wider for sitting sideways in, but im not sure yet. It is really really well designed. The side guys add a much bigger feeling to the interior when pulled tight.

Sorry, I didn't actually answer your question. I don't think it is lacking at length at all, nor do I think it would help honestly.

I think if inwas under 6ft. This would be perfect....

I just picked up this Pomoly timber stove ti

it was preorder so took about a month to get in. So far after just burning it in I am very pleased. They really build these well and any is def a quality piece.

I order with the one side piece of glass which now I am not sure if I would do, thought it would be nice to have the glow at night but does weigh a little more. Might try and order a plain ti side wall.

anyone considering one I would def recommend

@Boomah21 check out Lone Wolf 902 on youtube if you haven’t, he produces some really good videos on Pomoly, I’m sure you have but just in case you missed them… I bet that glass would be nice to help light up the tent too!

Yea I watched a number of those videos before buying was helpful in picking which model as they have a lot of them.

I’m excited to use it. I ordered one of the tents from argali but that Was also a preorder
