2TC foot loop help

Noooo, dont do that. What you need to do is go to Eastern Woods Outdoors and buy stuff. Probably should get parts for 3 maybe 4 different setups to figure out what will work best for you and then list the other stuff on the classifieds.
I like the idea of purchasing gear versus fabricating it, for safety rated equipment.
The only thing I see on the EWO page is a Beal Air Step (Foot Loop), that would fit this application. If the foot loop is adjustable, but if it had wider belting, I think it would be ideal. Without calling EWO and asking the size of the loop, there's no way to know if it would fit over a particular boot style or size.
Also, I would prefer a wider belt size to avoid the same uncomfortable issue in the arch of your foot, of using a rope.
Perhaps there are other companies that offer belting, for such uses.

I am almost opposite in that I like to make my own stuff. If it fails it was my fault. I bought a new push mower for the house week before last and when I unboxed it, the fitting that captures the blade engagement cable was broken. That wasnt the real issue though. It was broken during assembly at the plant and rather than fixing it, the knucklehead that put it together re-routed the cable around the handle and hooked it back up. Any more I just dont trust some companies employees to give a crap about doing their job, much less doing it well.

That said, you might want to look at the JRB tree climbing website and watch the video for making a foot loop. With the double loop you can either use both feet or you could spread the loops to provide a wider step for more support for one foot. Basically be standing in a 4" loop rather than 2" or rope.

I have some old tree stand harnesses I can use the belts off of, I’m going to try them at ground level to see if wider is better for me.

ketch22,
I used a rope, then changed to a tree harness safety strap. I had one left over from an old harness and kept it in case I found a use for it some day. Well, I recently started trying the 2TC method and tried several things for the bottom tether. I ended up with this safety belt harness, which would work the same as a seat belt in a car. I tied a simple loop for my carabiner to attach to it and the Ropeman1. The Ropeman1 makes the entire rig adjustable for varying tree diameters. I use the same Ropeman1 setup for the upper tether too.

That’s looks inherently unsafe to me…..what with the release lever for the Ropeman up against the tree like that…..

I see what you're talking about, but I've since changed to a double loop for both feet. This double loop (which I have yet to take photos) setup will have the Ropeman1 away from the tree and the back of the carabiner against the tree instead.
Hope to get some photos this weekend and post them up. :)
