If there’s anyone else out there like me, you don’t necessarily like climbing with a tree stand or platform on your back or hanging off your saddle trying to pull your pants down, or even weighing your pack down on your back. You’d maybe rather pull up your stand/platform once you’re up in the tree and ready for it instead. But you also don't want to mess with more than 1 gear hoist or pull up rope.
Well maybe this has been done before but I feel like I thought of a pretty cool way to pull up 2 or more things with the one line on my gear hoist.
Get yourself one of these Nite Ize Caribeaners that has the rope pinch connection built in. Hook on your bow or weapon like normal on the end of the line. Then pull the rope out a ways to give yourself plenty of slack. Then grab a part of the rope and make a small loop with the rope. Feed the loop through the rope hole on the beaner. Pull the loop down and open the jaws so that it grabs one side of the rope. The other side of the rope that is feeding back through the hole should still be loose. Pull a little more slack out through the beaner hole (giggety) to make your original loop a little bigger. Then click the loop through the caribeaner gate. This will prevent the rope from accidentally getting knocked out of the jaws and dropping your stand/platform back to the ground and potentially on top of you expensive weapon still on the ground. Now you have a nice secure attachment point to pull up your stand on the same line as your weapon.
Then when you have your stand/platform installed onto the tree, the caribeaner can easily come off the rope and you can then pull up your weapon from there. When you’re done hunting, lower your weapon down like normal, then attach the beaner again like before, take your stand off the tree and attach and lower it down too.
