Mine is still how it was received new a few months ago at 125lbs. Would like to crank it to 150 for the season. Sounds like some people have already been shooting around 525 grains and I’m assuming they’re doing that at 150lbs with 300 spine arrows

I talked to @kyler1945 and he is shooting stock 300 arrows with 225 up front.
I do not know what lbs he is shooting, maybe he will let us know.

Got a mini last week very happy with the quality of it and it shoots awesome. I’d like to raise the draw weight to 150lbs but I have a couple questions.

1. Do I need to or should I remove the string before adjusting the Draw weight?

2. For the max 150lbs do the limb bolts get snugged up tight or is it a certain amount of turns out. The paperwork I received kinda confused me.

I am no expert but I just adjust the limb bolts. To remove the string you back out the limb bolts. I turn out slowly 1 or 2 turns each switching between the top and bottom bolts.
Limb bolts tight all the way in should be 150lbs. I have mine 2 turns out, should be 120lbs.
 
What kind of arrow speed are you getting out of the HC mini?

I'm in the market for a new/compact xbow......kind of narrowed it down to either an Excalibur Assassin 400 TD or a 10Point Siege. Siege is more compact, but Assassin is "simpler" and you can change strings yourself, so I'm still debating. But maybe an HC mini would be an ever better choice? Not just for up in a saddle for me.

If you want speed, go with a conventional xbow. The mini, at best, is going to push about 315 fps. Most people probably average around 300. The advantage lies in how small and light it is, and that it's easy to shoot from a saddle because of the vertical limbs.

Think of the mini as a tiny little compound bow that you can draw ahead of time and shoot with a trigger. If you compare it to conventional xbows in terms of speed and energy, you will be disappointed with it.

I think with stock arrows and set at 150lbs it is at 300fps. Since I am set at 120lbs and I have a 170gr broadhead I am well below that. Since I never shoot past 30yrds and most shots will be at 20 yards, fps is the least important thing to me.

I don’t think I have seen anything in the mid 300’s with the suggested arrow weight. A more realistic range is probably more like compound speed. 275-325 FPS give or take.

You don't and shouldn't remove the string when tightening the bolts, cuz then you won't be able to get it on. Like Geofish said you can only get the string on or off when you've loosened the bolts most of the way. So leave string on, then do equal turns rotating on each bolt back and forth until they won't go in any more. then you're at 150 pounds. mine has been set at this from day one when I got the bow 3 years ago. still shoots perfect.

Yeah 320 tops. im getting about 300 with my 150 grain heads and bow set at top poundage. But I bought this for ease of working on (changing strings, etc), not for speed. Trust me I wanted the new 500 fps xbow that my buddy has. Yes he shot a doe at 70 yards with one! But my local archery shop has a constant flood of busted xbows coming through during season. No one can work on them themselves. You bust a string and your archery season may be done.

I get 315-320 with mine using 100 grain heads and the stock DCA arrows.

I like the mini because you can work on it yourself with a set of Allen wrenches, it's as easy to carry through the woods as a rifle or regular bow, it shoots regular arrows, and if you're saddle hunting you don't have to worry about limbs or cams smacking a tree or your bridge/tether.
 
I got the 100 grain inserts from Ethics which are really nice. Pair those with a 125 grain broadhead, and with the limbs all the way down to 150, man this thing shoots good. Quieter also with the heavier arrows. Much less fishtail in the arrow. And the penetration is amazing.... :smile:

Really looking forward to this season. Hope I can get some time in the woods.
 
I have a Mission Sub 1 and a Mini. The Mission is quieter than the mini and dead nuts accurate on a bench. I smoked a doe with it a couple years ago at about 10 yards. The mini is much lighter and far easier to hunt with. I shot a doe with it last year at about 10 yards from the ground in a hammock seat. The arrow deflected slightly off a tiny branch of a sapling but still hit the lungs and did it’s job. As a shooting weapon to impress your friends with stacking bolts on top of each other the Mission wins. For an accurate, hunting and killing machine the Mini wins. It just flat out works. It’s some of the best money I have spent on a hunting weapon.
