Team 4

I also have one of those "satanic" models at home lol. We have a 7 month old at home. MY wife is jealous I am hunting without her this year. I made a deal that I would only bow hunt 1 day a week this year. I still will have the whole 9 day gun season off though. Plenty of time to add some points for the team.
Literally same situation dude. ive been hunting twice in 2 weeks (for 3 hrs and back home by 10am) and i didnt even hunt opener but i guess thats too much.

I cant hunt firearms out of a saddle. screwed up some points last year cuz i use a climber during rifle. Shot a 10 and a nice 11 and neither counted. woops

I believe the post baby satanic condition requires 18-20 years for full recovery.

I am still pretty lucky as I get full day sits.

What is the deal with not being allowed to hunt firearm out of a saddle?

Western Wisconsin here. Got out opening evening but only saw a forky at last light.
By drop in temps starting tomorrow. Going to try and get out after work. 86 today, 66 tomorrow. Gotta find them oaks that are falling.

Single as a Pringle here boys! I’m hoping being in the contest is gonna make me less likely aka not likely to pass on does! In years pass I always wanna wait for a buck. Tv put it in my head I was messing my spots up. No more boys! Let them broadheads head.

Bout to head out in an hour or so. Got a perfect wind for my spot this evening. They have come out in roughly the same spot every evening so hopefully they do the same tonight and I can get a shot before it’s too dark.

I'm allowed to...just choose not to. I dont stabilize well off-shoulder on shots farther than 50 yds. and i dont find my bridge/tether to be a very solid rest. I love saddle hunting but im not gonna wiff a shot or feel unconfident if i can help it. i know i can shoot 100+ out of my climber with my muzzleloader so thats what i use. I am a better shot with my bow in my saddle 100%. it keeps my legs from shakin haha and it gets me to bend at my hips

i guess i could sit all day if i wanted to (gettin yelled at either way bout it), but i never have anyway. i move spots depending on time of day. Deer wont come through the same tree all day randomly where i hunt. i usually move depending on the thermals its real steep hills with river/creek bottoms where i hunt so thermals change a lot depending on where the sun is and what temps are doing.

Anybody in a tree? im not hunting this weekend, fly fishing obligations for my brother's bachelor party. He's a sportfishing captain in Ft. Lauderdale and wants to catch baby brook trout for fun lol. Good Luck to whoever gets out! I'll try and get out monday morning and put some points on the board. Fawns are pretty muched weaned by now so momma is on the menu

3 yards, that one stung a bit. I finally had a good wind to sit in this little pocket on the bean field all the deer seem to congregate at every night. Access is tricky and not putting ground scent somewhere deer would come from or end up is impossible. Got up in the tree around 5 ish and the wind was real swirly, it literally blew every direction tonight and was pretty unpredictable. It was mainly blowing the opposite of what the prevailing wind called for but I stuck it out anyway. About an hour til last light a spike popped out about 100 yards away and fed by himself being super wary of his surroundings. He worked away from me and eventually another spike popped out with him about 20 minutes later. At one point they started trotting at me but they got behind some cover and I couldn’t see them anymore. They eventually hit my ground sit and bounded off the field without blowing or anything. About 20-30 minutes till last light I heard some leaves crunching behind me in the thick cover they’ve been staging in mainly. I get turned around and situated and there’s 2 or 3 bucks feeding and making there way to the beans behind me. I’m assuming the swirling wind was messing with them and they had to of smelled me a little bit but, they slowed down and mingled 15 yards from me for about 10 minutes. I could only catch glimpses of them as it was super thick and getting dark. One of them eventually ended up in the only opening I had no more than 10 feet from my tree. It was a really nice 8 I’d seen every night I’ve sat so far. I had the bow ready but hadn’t drawn back yet. He looked up at me after getting in the clearing then put his head back down. Once he turned away I drew but he started walking away after I got to full draw and I didn’t have a shot anymore. They hung out for awhile near my tree and eventually worked off somewhere and I got out. It was 93 when I got out to the tree today. Monday is calling for the same wind but a high of 80, hopefully they get on there feet earlier and the wind isn’t as swirly.

Those are always tough to swallow, sounds like you didn’t mess with them too much though. Would it be possible to set up in their staging area and catch them earlier or just way too thick in there?

Woke up this morning to 40 degrees and frost on my windshield! I will be hitting the woods for a day of hunting with my kids Saturday. Hopefully they will get a chance to put something on the ground. It is supposed to be a high of 54, with a 48% chance of rain with a s/w wind which will be good for my spot I have a blind. I'd love to get out for some points but 54 and rain sitting in the saddle isn't my idea of fun lol.

Yeah nothing ever blew tonight and I could see a big group of them on the end of the bean field when I was walking out. I’ve thought about getting in the staging area but it’s just a crapshoot. They don’t always hit the same spot and in the most open spots I’d be able to shoot 10 yards. They do have to cross a big trail to get into it but I haven’t set up there yet. They’re bedding in this mature pine block with shoulder high grass crossing that trail into the thick hardwood patch then popping out into the beans. Problem is they’ve been pretty consistent hitting the beans half hour to even an hour before dark. I think the high temps yesterday slowed them down. I’ve got 1 or 2 more shots at it before this place closes next Friday.

That’s probably best, hang back just a bit and see if they’ll hold that pattern long enough for you to get an arrow in one. Good luck, I’m jealous of y’all that are able to get in a tree right now.
