Wanna make (scent control) history?

Too complicated. May I suggest an alternative strategy?

Buy a Scentlok coat, activate the carbon, put an angry skunk in the coat, seal off the top, bottom, and both sleeves. Shake the coat and take a whiff. Record results.

Who wants to volunteer for the control group? Skunk in plain tshirt? Any takers? ;)

For those of you that hunt high but just play the wind. Does the wind blow over their back? and how close do they have to be. Say 10 yds downwind but 25' in the tree. Do they get you or not? 30 downwind? Just curious as to some your experiences.

SAME!!! But I'm not going to lie, I'm seriously considering it for no other reason than, why not??? But, if Its not "really worth it", why spend ~ $200 plus on scent lock clothing? Or perhaps, why not?
IMO, no matter what you think, it’s worth it if you need new clothing and you can’t get equal quality clothing at a lower price. I buy it on deep discount, primarily because it’s on sale, it’s soft and quiet, it‘s good quality and I like it. Any scent control I get out of it is a bonus, I always hunt the wind no matter what I’m wearing and if the wind suddenly shifts, I’m certainly no worse off having it on.

Wish I hunted somewhere the saying "if the wind suddenly shifts" was applicable. Where I hunt it is when and how often. There is never any question of if it is going to shift.

That’s what my wife’s mother uses and my wife and now my daughters and so on and so forth!!
Dude my old hunting partner used to slather that crap on like it was free and I’ve watched deer literally walk up to the tree he was sitting in sniffing all around like they were gonna eat him up.

Oh I remember the story and this is exactly why I wanna be on team SLJCAAL.

I use peppermint soap.

My killingest huntin buddy uses his special recipe vanilla scented dryer sheets.
Now you're talking. I wanna see next year's teams split up gentleman's honor style by fragrance.

Team 1: Coconut and Lime hand soap
Team 2: Brute
Team 3: Chicken poop
Team 4: Ode de Parfume
Team 5: Everclear
Team 6...

Whoever is participating in the ScentLok pool needs to have all of their Eberharting done by a non-hunting third party, one person who’s in charge of all their scent elimination so there’s a definite control over that data. You can’t have X number of different hunters doing their own Eberharting because they will inevitably have varying success based on nuances in their systems. I think it was written on a ring somewhere: “One scent controller to rule them all, one dog to find them; one big a** buck to bring them all, and in the darkness skirt by them”. Something like that.

Some 25yrs ago used to use this on the bottom of my boots to cover my foot trail to the tree. Was a vanilla extract base I'm pretty sure. Was pretty amazing to see deer not react to my path when crossing over it, sometimes traveling along same route.

First time I've ever logged in via laptop, things must be getting pretty serious. I suffer from FOMO, the day I stocked up on Scentlok is when I start wondering if smothering in vanilla with peanut butter facepaint is the better option. Admit this may be a fools errand, but still wanted fiddle with the idea. Of course this won't be in a lab, double blind... but heck we might learn that we have a 50% chance at getting a shot at the deer dead down wind as long as we're neutral to rising thermals, starting at about 24' of elevation if they're closer than 30 yards... or maybe it'll all be an epic fail.

Here's proposed survey Rev 1.0, striking a balance between convenience and science:
[1] Temperature (F):
[2] Humidity (%):
[3] Wind speed (mph):
[4] Winds Swirling? (Y / N)
[5] Elevation to Deer (feet):
[6] Distance to Deer (yards):
[7] Level of Scent Control (relatively clean Scentlok use begins at 4) 1-5:
(1) None (3) Moderate (5) Eberhart
[8] Deers Position 1-5:
(1) Upwind (3) Marginal (5) Dead Downwind
[9] Thermals in Relation to Deer Elevation 1-5:
(1) Away (3) Neutral (5) Toward
[10] Deers Response, spook level 1-5:
(1) No Response (2) Delayed Soft (3) Immediate Soft (4) Delayed Hard (5) Immediate Hard
Notes:

And yeah yeah yeah who the heck doesn't play the wind? Sometimes I'm right at calling where the deer will be, sometimes I'm wrong.

I been using Scentlok for a longtime. I started using it around 1993. I still have the original suit which was just a liner that went under you regular camo clothes. I bought a few suits since then and liners. I do trust it and also John's scent regiment . I possibly could give some info on my hunts.

I don't trust anyone to handle any of my scent control system. I will give an honest opinion you can take it or leave it for what it's worth. I know Scentlok and John regiment is not for everyone .
