    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

For a trad archer, I can totally see setting up for your strong side. Also I can see you being lower in tree for the shot angle. You can't get away with much movement. For me, I'm probably a bit higher than you so I can get away with little bit more movement. Here the wind blows a bunch. 20-30...

So where generally do you put your 6 position when you set up? Have you ever had a deer surprise you and come out of seemingly nowhere? Like "oh crap how did you get there!" If so, Which direction they come from?

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

I find it interesting the disparity between the regions guys hunt. For me, shade would never be a a consideration. Also the your tree selection options are completely different. I would never consider hunting 10' high but if that all you got then you have to make it work. You mention leaners and...

    Hunting apps private boundary accuracy?

On my 3 acres, Onyx appears to be off by 8-10'. I have surveyed lines so I know exactly where the boundary is. However I would never assume that my App. is absolute in a hunting situation. . Nor would I trust my Garmin GPS that is supposed to pick up 8 Satellites. I have hunted National Forest...

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

I too think this is an interesting thread. Kudo's to the OP for posting it. I like to see how other guys approach different scenarios. I too also prefer a crosswind scenario. I have a few questions. Not sure what you mean by "capture" the movement. Deer movement or Your movement? also crowding...

At what distance do your kill your deer?

Seems like you guys are getting them in close. Can someone start a survey so we can put some number together? I'm thinking Number of kills from 10-20yd, 20-30yds, 30-40 yds etc. so we can get some %'s.

At what distance do your kill your deer?

Just curious how far are you guys are kill n' em'. I'm of the older generation so I generally don't take far shots. Most of my deer are killed at 20 yds or less. I can count on 1 hand how many deer I've killed over 30yds. (100+ bowkills). a I live in the West so further shots can and do happen...

I understand what saying now. Your setup w/ the hope that the deer will be coming directly from upwind so your focusing on that direction. For me and my area One of the best set ups I have ever found is very similar to your diagram. Just throw in more trails that intersect in front of the tree...

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

This why I now try to put my 6 at the least likely direction deer will come from. Regardless of my strong side or weak side shot. If I see them coming, I have enough time to prepare. I can spin on my platform in seconds and be ready. Basically I'm trying to avoid "oh crap! Where did he come...

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

Just noticed this thread. I'll throw my 2 cents in. Every set up and scenario is different but in this one that's given If it were me, I would set up at 3 O'clock if I could. Many guys try to set up placing the strong side shot at their 9-10 for righties or 2-3 for lefties or face the most...

    Chronographed, Real-World Bow Speed

Nut, I don't know. and truthfully I don't care. IMO People get too caught up in FPS. I shoot a heavy set up. If I had to guess 240 -250 fps. The only reason I would ever chrono my set up would be to figure out my momentum #. I own a chrono and I still don't even take the time to do it...
