Can we start a communal turkey feathers collection/market thread?

Mine did . . . she claimed I was so aged I was expired/rotten and should probably be disposed of. o_O :tearsofjoy:

    Licking branch tree fell over

I had a similar occurrence in a spot where there was an all year community scrape that's been there for at least a decade. The licking branch tree died and the branch wasn't over the scrape anymore. There was no scrape activity in the same spot this year but another scrape opened up about...

    DOG CONTROL

Sorry @woodsdog2, I think this is bad advice. Forget the emotional knee jerk reaction, both in taking the shot on the part of the shooter and emotional response of having an innocent dog killed from the owners/public. There could be some significant legal consequences of this action. I'll...

Anyone around the auburn hills macomb area?

I'm planning on being at the Michigan get together in May if that helps. I have been one sticking for about 5 years now.

    2tc vs one sticking

@tailgunner, if I hunted the terrain you do then I'd be all in on 2tc too. :tearsofjoy: Fact of the matter is that where I hunt the worst hills are a 300ft change in elevation and there's very few places you can't drive to within 3/4 of a mile from. Under those circumstances I can manage to...

    2tc vs one sticking

One of the reasons I've stuck with one sticking over 2tc is that I like having the option of keeping the stick on the opposite side of the tree from my platform to give me the ability to walk around the tree if I need to. That would be difficult to do with a second tether, I'd need to...

    2024 Turkey Thread

For the most part they're still in their large winter flocks here. They're just starting to break up and spread out a bit. We have just under a month til season starts though.

    One Stick Recommendation

If you're planning on a separate platform and spending most of your hunting time on it then I see no reason to spend the dollars for a dedicated one stick with a platform of its own. I one stick climb on a short Hawk Helium with a single step aider and use it in conjunction with a EDP...

HFAS, USA Pro, etc - issues?

I do the same when I use the timber hitch with amsteel on my EDP. I hold the platform (folded) up against the tree with the amsteel horizontal while I pull the slack out. Then when it's cammed over it is set really tight. Since the amsteel doesn't stretch, if it's set tight to start it will...

    Athens Archery Closing Down

I do believe there is a legal issue with supplying parts too. My deer rifle is a Marlin MR-7 chambered in 30-06 that I bought in the late 90's. Unfortunately it was only produced for 3-4 years before production was stopped due to some patent infringements. I love the rifle and it shoots...

    Interesting sight

I've seen them drop here in northern Michigan as early as December an as late as April. It has always seemed to me to correlate somewhat with the severity of the winter. Given the very mild winter we had here this year I'm not really surprised to see deer still holding antlers still.

    Tree Risk Assessing

I agree with @BTaylor. I can't count the number of times I've been sitting in the woods on a calm, beautiful day only to have a tree (or top of a tree) suddenly crash to the ground nearby for seemingly no reason. Those trees survived the last wind storm but were still weakened enough to fail...

    2024 Turkey Thread

Nope, I've never taken the platform. I feel pretty comfortable that I'm generally high enough standing on the ground. I think if you're too high its an advantage to the turkeys. It is something to think about though.

    2024 Turkey Thread

This is exactly how I hunt them with my bow. I just tie in at ground level when I setup and I can hide behind the tree and still draw my bow and lean out. Only need the saddle and a tether as far seating gear goes.
