    H2 Slingshot 2.0 Saddle opinions

I would agree with this, they don't stay on while walking very well. Never had an issue in tree

    Just a swing'n

Shot a black bear in the saddle 2 years ago at maybe 15- 20 yards. It was last light, I had literally just packed my pack with no ****s given- binoculars in, range finder in, extra gloves, water bottle, whatever else hangs in my nest. So I reach over to pull my pack off it's hook and...

    H2 Slingshot 2.0 Saddle opinions

I have a slingshot with triad, works well. Outside of weight I don't have any beef with the saddle, everything works great.

    How important ?

Thigh level, never used em. I do use the ones at waist level for rope and aider storage though, have a pair of reasonably sized dump bags attached.

Worst thing you’ve forgot to take into the field?

This isn't a bad idea. I've thought of sewing a few loops for rounds onto my saddle so I can have a few spare kicking around, maybe I'll do it.

Worst thing you’ve forgot to take into the field?

Got up in my saddle one dark morning, got comfy, took a swig of ye 'old hot tea and settled in for that leisurely wait for sunrise. About 5 minutes later I realized that all my bullets were back in the car.

    secondary safety line ?

Tether and bridge, I've heard of people running two bridges, but I think in reality if you're on top of your maintenance, doing your inspections, and replacing ropes instead of being a skinflint you're going to be fine.

Anybody gone back to mobile stands?

How I look at it too. Currently I have a blind, leaning stand, and saddle. When it comes to the saddle I have trees with permanent footings and sticks. When it comes to "where I want to be" I have all the options- usually the blind in the rain/snow or on a very cold late morning to afternoon...

    Hot hot should it get?

https://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en_EU/stories/experience-story-qc-lab-can-a-hot-belay-device-melt-my-rappel-slings/ Found that which might be helpful. Looks like the black diamond tops out at 135 for average use, so hot but not catastrophically so.

    thetr backup

I've heard of people sliding a prusik with a long end just below their tether loop at the tree. The other end of that prusik will come down to the bridge caribeaner and end with a bowline or girth hitch and connect again. It only really helps if you break below the loop and not at the...

Long time lurker taking the plunge.

Its kind of nice when checking my trail cams, but mostly I'd just like a lighter pack.

Well the point is *not* to be inverted. Saddle Death… Stay safe out there. | saddlehunter.com Saddle safety PSA | saddlehunter.com I'm wondering if running a line from a chest harness to my tether would help prevent an inversion. I'm not sure what this would look like, especially when bow...

Long time lurker taking the plunge.

So I think I'm just going to come back and update this post yearly with my experience, maybe someone new would appreciate the multi-year experience. Last year (2021) I dropped a nice 8 pointer out of the saddle* I put the asterisk out there as I got a bit lazy. I did a few saddle sits but...

Saddle Death… Stay safe out there.

So origonay I'd assumed that having your saddle up over your center of gravity would prevent an inversion, but clearly not. I guess my next question here would be- would it not be safer to have a harness clipped above your tether point such that if you slipped you'd end up in a hammock...
