    Climb of shame counter.

I frequently leave my accessory strap in the tree and have to go up and get it. If I know I am hunting the same tree in the next couple days I will just leave it there.

    Bowline knots suck.

Simplicity is probably the only advantage I see. You can tie it one handed, blindfolded pretty easily, so if you are hanging in the tree stuck in the dark and need a simple knot that must be tied with one hand it is the knot for you. Other than that I got nothing.

    Canoe vs Kayak

I have a Bonafide SS127 and love it for fishing, but I think it would be horrible for hunting if I had to put a deer on it.

please help me understand some methods of self-rescue in a tree

The webbing I use to carry my sticks in works as a suspension relief strap that is long enough to girth hitch around the tree and still give me about 20-25 inches of step depending on the tree. I can inch my way down the tree with my tether, LB and the relief strap.

Thoughts on a first bow for my 16 year old son

One thing I found with some of the starter bows is they generally have a maximum draw length of 29-30 inches. If your son is still growing like my 16 year old they can grow out of the bow really quick. My son grew around 8-9 inches in the last couple years and now has a draw length over 30...

    NEVER hunt a south wind???

Definitely relative. Here in my area of MO I kill almost all my deer on SW, S or SE wind. If you did not hunt those days you would rarely get to hunt.
