    Near fall experience

Newbs should read #15 and #16 a few times. It's not about toting around all the fancy gear and looking the part, it's knowing how to use it! Beware the man that has one saddle/bow/gun/platform, whatever.

How did you cook your turkey?

Breastesses, meh. Usually cut in chunks, brine in pickle juice and buttermilk, coat in seasoned flower, don't forget the MSG if you're really tryna copy chic fil a. Good eats, chicken does it better, though. And chicfila being 5 minutes down the road, I usually outsource cleanup to them. I...

    Cleaning up

My favorite screening cover is light, so it's almost never a bad thing to open it up, sometimes it's just a short term sacrifice which can be tough or non negotiable on micro properties. Still takes a few years for stuff to grow deer high, but if you can drop some junk trees with bigger tops...

    Cleaning up

Why? When I do habitat work I'm usually trying to make it thicker. Unless I'm trying to turn invasive crap back into natives.

    2tc vs one sticking

On paper so can I but I one-sticked every hunt last year. 2 TC is fine I just find one-sticking a little...easier? Idk. I'm not super practiced at 2 TC. Here I thought that was the overhyped one but I gather cbigbear is saying otherwise? Setting lines in the woods in the dark and brush just...

Who uses the notch v3 quickly?

I've never experienced that, but yeah, that would be unnerving. I've seen youtubes of one-handed rappels on a MR, rather cringeworthy, just making sure.

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

I'm not just talking about the shot, I'm talking about scanning for deer without injuring my neck too.

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

Not ideally, like 10-12 is perfect, but I can swing around the backside of the tree to shoot usually all the way to 2-3, sometimes more. But yes, going past that, where you have to move your feet any way you slice it, is worst case scenario.

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

I'll skip ahead 995 words... I do my best to put deer at 9 - 2, but sometimes it doesn't shake out that way. That's why I'm such a big hybrid fan. Imo it make adjusting on the fly way more comfortable and productive.

Who uses the notch v3 quickly?

Used properly, the device doesn't so much control your rate of rappel with assisted belay devices, your brake hand does. I cringe at the thought of you not even using a brake hand but it seems to me with these sorts of feedback, that may be the case. Definitely a practice I would recommend...

    Quitting coffee

I cut back to a cup in the morning, and occassionally for pick me up for a drive or to power through tedium. For me there was a line in the sand between enjoying a fresh cup in the morning and compulsively drinking narsty stale piss warm stuff out of my tumbler all day. That line seemed like a...

Not meaning to open a can of worms - cross loading carabiners

And on that note did you know Home Depot and some of the big box brethren carry Notch products now. Now that's an lol for keeping up the appearance of safety.

Not meaning to open a can of worms - cross loading carabiners

Also I've been following HowNot2 for a few years and it's really cool he's "branching out" so good on you tree people that got in his ear, if that applies to any of you.

Not meaning to open a can of worms - cross loading carabiners

I appreciate it, just giving my thoughts. The slick pin is ANSI approved, I don't dispute that. I just don't personally care for it. Not a fan of the RRP for that reason either, but it's just personal preference.

Not meaning to open a can of worms - cross loading carabiners

I know it's not fully logical and I don't have any dramatic anecdotes, I just don't 100% trust them. I want to dangle from what I trust, not what someone tells me to trust.
